Places to Stay in Matera

It was very good idea to choose this hotel. Very close to Sassi of Matera. Comfortable room, friendly staff, good breakfast. We were lucky to have last place in the parking lot for our car. It was easy to walk from the hotel to most of the attractions in the city.

Very good location, further from the city centre which makes it a quiet and enjoyable! About 10 min drive to Sassi. Very modern hotel with a nice design inside and outside. Friendly and very accommodating staff 👍 Enjoyed our morning breakfast at the buffet as well. Will definitely stay here again when we are back to Matera.

Tenuta Danesi is an amazing place full of charm and warmth. The hosts are wonderful and truly care about every guest. We stayed one night in a standard double room — beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable — and the second night in the Bubble Room, which was an unforgettable experience! The food and wine are exceptional, and the whole atmosphere is peaceful and elegant. A perfect combination of comfort, nature, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

Superb breakfast with the most amazing view in all of Matera. Beautiful historic room, spacious and clean. Great bed and pillows. Modern bathroom. You step outside and a picture like a postcard is in front. Cristina was suoer kind and helpful.

Unique experience to sleep inside a cave. Amazing how everything has been built to maintain the true nature of the caves. Very helpful staff.

The place is really a part of Matera history

I think this hotel is the best choice for staying in Sassi Matera. It has the best location and the most beautiful view. We were able to walk everywhere in the old city, and from our room we had an amazing view. Breakfast was also excellent.”

The hotel was very nice and the location was great for visiting the historical areas of Matera. Breakfast was furnished at a cafe a few doors down.

The room is extremely modern and I love that. The staff is super helpful and amazing. I sprained my ankle and they were very attentive to helping me out. They also were helpful with finding good places to eat dinner. Their breakfast is amazing. You have to try their Cornetto

Great location in the town, just steps from the Duomo and the Sassi of Matera.

The apartment is very big and spacious. We bioked the apart via Piave 23 incl breakfast at near cafe. The location is great just walking distance to the spot where you can get nice view of Matera by night! With many good restaurants nearby

Great location. Close to everything. Quiet clean and comfortable.

Location second to none, overlooking the town square, fantastic! Opened up the windows and your on the balcony, and such an amazing sight to behold! Came after reception hours, guidance was exceptional. No issues what so ever, real easy to find and settle into the room.

Wow! We absolutely loved our 2 nights here - a little luxury built into an original cave in the Sassi area. Our own courtyard and little terrace with a lovely view over the old town. Plenty of space and a very comfortable bed and pillows, nice linen and towels. Our host was delightful and gave us a map and told us what there was to see and do (through translate). No breakfast at the apartment but a voucher for a cafe 5-10 mins up the road (croissants and coffee) not a big breakfast, so we got a piece of fruit from the local store to have too. Our host provided some little snacks and drinks which was great. We were so happy we booked this apartment and so far has been up there with some of our favourites in Italy. What an amazing town with an interesting past. I would recommend it.

Attilo was very responsive and thoughtful. The place is clean and comforting. It is right in the sassi so I needed to park elsewhere but that is ok, Attilo gave good suggestions. It can be loud outside on the weekends but you are in the historic centre so that is a given. The place is so warm inside which is nice especially when the spring has been so cold. The art on the walls gave the place charm and character.
