Very relaxing…. Great place to relax and unwind. Very quiet and serene. The staff were superb…. Courteous and very friendly. We enjoyed an old fashioned made with butter. Best old fashioned that we have tried. We had a fantastic experience!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The view is amazing, and the indoor pool is pleasantly warm—very comfortable for families with kids. The breakfast is excellent, and the mattress is just right—not too soft and not too firm. A parking spot is also available, which is very convenient. Overall, everything was perfect, especially the stunning view and beautiful sunsets.

Everything was wonderful- and I don't normally say that. Overall, yes, are you in town by the development, sure, but the awesome breakfast, cleanliness of the rooms, comfort of the beds, and easy parking make up for it. (I just parked for free outside the entrance door- unsure if this is just off season luxury or not). The rooms have balconies and I really liked the smooth lava rock they used for it. Also the twin room mattresses were so comfortable. I also really loved the wood closet thing in the room. All the design details and cleanliness was so appreciated, and I wish all hotels were like that. I would gladly be back, wish this exact hotel was available around the usa and world actually. If I'm ever to the Azores again, I plan to use this hotel on any and all flight nights or for any other reasons just to regroup and relax. I wish I had tried their dinner, but I ate in the bar, and the breakfast and both of those were great. The staff was also really nice, and they were so particularly nice. And they spoke English (sorry for my lack of Portuguese). I really have to say I deeply appreciated the management, cleanliness, and design of this hotel, you could just tell from the front desk manager, to the trainee, to the room service/housekeeping, to the breakfast and bar staff. And I will hopefully be back!

The staff was very accommodating and front desk reception was available 24/7. The apartment was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the baby cot provided was spacious and comfortable. The anemities (indoor and outdoor pool, Turkish bath, etc) were great. It has a spacious parking lot, and also free parking on the street. They do a beautiful job landscaping the grounds.

Great service from staff, delicious continental breakfast, comfortable and spacious room and parking space included. Only a short drive to Sao Miguel and the big hypermarket. Loved the pineapple farm setting and beautiful lemon, guava, avocado and banana trees. I will definitely stay here again!

Our stay was wonderful, with a very homely feel. Thank you to the kind staff and the wonderful cats and dogs that made our days brighter. Early morning strolls through the garden were one of the high points of our stay.

After looking at what seemed like a zillion homes on the island and cross referencing them with recent reviews, we chose this spot. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The pictures posted on the listing are accurate and arguably don’t do the home justice. The host has literally thought of anything and everything one might need and it’s provided (albeit not necessarily mentioned/listed). We requested a crib for baby and they had it set up and ready to go. IF you’re traveling with a baby who likes a dark room, I recc getting some travel blackout curtains from Amazon beforehand. Between that and the new travel Hatch, baby slept like a dream. I ended up buying a whole bunch of unnecessary things, as I’m used to domestic rentals that provide nothing and have pages of rules. Once I did some exploring, I found all the items I bought, already stocked in cabinets/drawers etc. The host was beyond accommodating and was very understanding when baby broke something she got her hands on. Hubby ended up cutting himself pretty bad, and the house had a stocked first aid kit that was a lifesaver late at night when a pharmacy wasn’t open. The location was perfectly central for exploring the island (we rented a car on our own, but the host does have reccs for rentals if needed). There’s a charcoal grill on ground level and a wood grill upstairs, with plenty of wood provided. It was too cold to enjoy the pool but the hot tub was delightful. The host was also readily available via either the booking.com app or WhatsApp. 500/10 I would rent this home again.

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay! The location is perfect—private, secluded, and intimate, making it a wonderful base for exploring the north coast's natural beauty while remaining just a quick drive from Ponta Delgada. The house is a stunning remodel of a traditional home, featuring high-quality construction, beautiful artwork, handmade designs, gorgeous lighting, beautiful linens and an incredibly comfortable bed. The landscaped gardens, sunroom, and large, inviting pool create an atmosphere that is both deeply comforting and luxurious. The breakfasts were incredible! Every morning we were treated to an artistic spread of homemade juices, fresh baked goods, sliced meats, endless fruit, and garden-fresh jams. We also highly recommend booking a dinner with them. For a very reasonable price, they serve drinks, appetizers, mains, and the most delicious desserts—it was genuinely one of the best dinners we had on the island. Of course, the highlight of our trip was Franck and Miguel. They are exceptionally kind and genuine hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They provided an utterly peaceful environment, and gave us the best insider advice to navigate the island's unpredictable weather so we could get the most out of our vacation. They were always there when we needed them, yet perfectly respected our privacy. They are warm, kind, compassionate and truly love taking excellent care of their guests. We cannot recommend this stay enough.

Great, convenient, and quiet location with a view, close to the airport, 3minutes driving distance to a large supermarket. Full privacy and really wonderful hosts, they personally met us on arrival, explained and showed us everything in the house and also bought a welcome meal to the fridge. This was really great as we arrived in the evening and knew nothing about the place. The kitchen and the house is fully equipped with just about anything we needed. We could also pick fresh oranges and bananas in the garden every day, kids loved it. Hosts provided us with a lot of hints what to see, where to go.

We loved staying at Pico do Refugio. The staff is great, the apartment is lovely and very nicely designed. There is a common room where you can get coffee and cookies whenever you like and a pool with salty water. We appreciated that we had basic things in our apartment like salt, pepper, olive oil and coffee. Also, there is a laundry room. Overall, staying at Pico guarantees that you will have a relaxing holiday.

Stunning property , beautiful, they thought of everything

Amazing, unique stay! The staff were friendly, kind, and so accommodating! I asked if there was a fan, they said they would buy one specifically for us. When we walked around the grounds a man working on the farm gave my friend and I fresh strawberries to enjoy. Everything was perfect! If you have the opportunity to eat dinner there - please do! The kitchen handles the food with care, and you can try unique, seasonal flavors.

Beautiful location with sea vistas from every angle. The staff was exceptionally attentive, and went out of their way - continuously - to make sure our every want and need was met. Exceptional stay in a very exceptional place.
