I have stayed previously. The rooms are small but very comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities are always clean. Very good value for money at under $100 per night. Right in the main street of Ararat, but not noisy, as the rooms are at the back of the building.

The place was absolutely spotless, and we were left so many thoughtful food items, including everything needed for breakfast. The bathroom is superlative and the shower just perfect. The bed was very very comfortable and the heating worked wonderfully even though it was a cold day outside. The old milk bar has been done up a treat and this was the most interesting and different accommodation we have had. It is simply fantastic. We would very highly recommend to anyone, and particularly with a couple of children as there is much to occupy them there.

Quiet location, short walk to a dam full of pobblebonk frogs and a pub that does good meals. Great views from large windows over paddocks with grazing Kangaroos and rugged mountains as backdrop. Nicely furnished and decorated rooms, with two good outdoor seating areas. Heaters had been put on for us so our accommodation was warm when we arrived. Everything you could want in the kitchen including good quality plates, cutlery, etc. Interesting books to browse, a large TV screen, good laundry facilities and even a guitar - not that we used these things. Comfortable beds.

Ngaire greeted us as we arrived & offered excellent explanations on hikes and other areas of interest as well as eateries. The place was FULL of wildlife: birds, “Roos”, wallabies, was that frogs we heard at night? We felt as one with nature at this special place. The place (cabin) was complete home away from home offering comfort (our room was w/o a tub) & serenity. A wonderful experience from Los Angeles travelers! We felt the staff was truly passionate & put love & care to their place.

Clean comfortable unit with everything you would expect in terms of facilities. We loved the central lake which was visible from inside the unit with a constant parade of wildlife such as friendly fairywrens, herons eating yabbies, black cockatoos and redrumped parrots. Lots of kangaroos at dusk and the kid loved feeding the farm animals each morning. Kid enjoyed the pool also (there were a lot of bugs in it, but that's inevitable in a healthy ecosystem).

Hosts were fantastic even though he didn't want to talk Cricket HA HA. Rooms was spacious and the shower was magnificent. All up great place and an even better location.

We went in winters for 3 days.

We went in winters for 3 days. However, weather was not good. Still we managed to see few local things in Halls Gap. Like local community shops and restaurants. Halls Gap is a real hidden Gem in Grampians. We went to Pizzeria, Indian restaurant named Spirit of Punjab, Lilly shop, Coolas ice cream shop. Local bakery and brewery. Also, few look outs only due to wild weather. We will come again for sure in Summer holidays with kids again.

What we liked:

What we liked: The location was perfect for us, as my husband had to be at the hospital early the next morning for surgery. Being so close made everything much easier and took a lot of stress off us. The accommodation was comfortable and suited our needs for a short stay. It was quiet, convenient, and exactly what we needed at the time. What we didn’t like: There wasn’t anything major we didn’t like. Our stay was brief and mainly for hospital access, and for that purpose it met our expectations well.

Close to the Grampians (Halls Gap 43 klm).

Close to the Grampians (Halls Gap 43 klm). Lots of shops to buy food, especially during the day. Major supermarkets there (Woolworths, Aldi, IGA), Mc Donald's, KFC for fast food. RSL have good price beer but was noisy. Would of been better if the music was turned down. Not far from Lake Fyans. Short drive to Green Hill lake reserve. Free camping but also a nice place to go for a walk. Great view from the lookout in town. If you drive an electric car charging rates are 75 cents per kwh at the NMRA charging station.

This tiny house provides a different type of adventure. Be prepared to trip over your luggage, but that makes it part of the fun. It’s in a really quiet place and you can spend your evenings gazing at the stars. Grampian bushwalks and lakes are only a short drive away. You can bring g your dog and the host is super helpful.

Stawell used to be a bright vibrant town, but due to industry leaving it is slowly dying a slow death. Looks drab and depressing. So many closed shops drab shop fronts, and empty Main Street makes for no shopping 🛍️ there is none…all hotels closed used to be 5 now only one and a trackside taberet club, with overpriced meals it’s ridiculous. Arboretum gone, big hill viewing hil a disgrace. So sad it was once so beautiful.. The Cato lake is Stawells only redeeming quality.

Pomonal is a rather quiet village in the Grampian region and a short drive away from the busy tourist area of Halls Gap. Lots of hiking tracks in close vacinity where we saw wildlife and great landscape views. We had a one bedroom Villa which was perfectly designed with a great eye to the details for function and decoration! Perfect size for a couple. The terrace has a gas BBQ which we used a few times while watching the sunset behind the Grampian hills. Bred, Butter, Jam and a bottle of wine had been provided for us upon arrival. The bred was really great and the wine from their own vinyard was excellent. The living room has a fireplace which gives a cosy warmth and is nice to look at. We did not miss a thing! A big THANKS to the hosts for making our last 3 days of the holidays such a wonderful experience!

If you love nature and want to be away from the noise of city life, this is the place to go. Isolated enough to be away from all the destractions of life and the constant ringing of annoying mobiles. Staff went out of their way to assist and make my experience memorable. The atmosphere in the holiday park is all like minded people wanting a relaxing time away in a friendly environment
