One of 6,099 reviews:
"Reims is a lovely small French city. The cathedral is the main draw, and I did visit it three times during my two day stay. But there is also a second historic church, the Saint Rémi, worth visiting. The town has a fascinating layout, with both older residential buildings around and over the shops, and newer apartment buildings around the edges of the city. The newer buildings have spacious balconies and many overlook the river. There is a lovely river walk (the Coulée Verte) that I highly recommend. There is an opera company and several museums,as well as seasonal festivals. It is an easy city to visit. There are attractive parks and gardens, and a broad pedestrian thoroughfare lined with a variety of restaurants and pubs. There is public transport, but I walked everywhere."

"Chalons is the reason for our 10 day trip to France. My mom and daughter are named after this town so it was very sentimental for me to get to take my daughter here! We loved walking around the town exploring the different cathedrals, parks, and brasseries. The people that worked at the tourist information center were very friendly. The only downside is that we arrived on a Sunday and most of the town was closed...a few restaurants were open later in the evening, and our hotel had a bar that was open. We did find a yummy brasserie not located on the square that was opened where we purchased the best baguette we had during our visit to France. On Monday, stores were still closed, but we bought some more breads and sandwiches from a place on the square that were also wonderful! I wish that we could have stayed one more day so that we could have gone into the shops!"

"Great location to explore some of the champagne region and visit several of the local champagne houses. Watch the timing of your visit as the week we were there many of the bars and restaurants had closed for their summer vacation which put a lot of pressure on those that were still open. Highly recommend visits to Pierre Lebeouf, Roger Brun, Pascal Hennin and Richard Fliniaux Champagne Houses all in Ay 8 minute drive from Epernay."

Even the castle was only open weekends so I was unable to visit. It might be a lovely place in the summer but wouldn't go in the winter or spring"

EVERYTHING! We stayed here just to sleep on our way to a longer trip and were very pleased! The property is located just off the autobahn which is super convenient. The room is LOVELY! It had a huge king bed, was pristine, large glass shower..and the restaurant downstairs looked fabulous. It is quiet, modern, very clean and perfect! Iryna was our wonderful breakfast hostess who made the start to our day fabulous!

Dream Chateau in the middle of the wine yards and close to Reims. View from the room was incredible and the room itself was very comfortable. Staff was beyond nice and they provided a bottle of champagne for my wife’s birthday and it’s a super dog-friendly hotel (and restaurant). It’s a bit on the pricey side but money super well spent and we will definitely return and recommend to any of our friends.

Everyone was so kind to us. We had a remarkable dinner with a very friendly waiter and the next day they let us sit on the lovely terrace—bringing us coffee and croissants long after they were finished providing breakfast. We sat for hours there in the sunshine after my 90-year old parents slept off their jet lag. The building itself is not beautiful but we had a truly beautiful experience.

Worth the trip, will go back, cannot recommend it enough!

Worth the trip, will go back, cannot recommend it enough! https://mariaonpoint.com/a-perfect-getaway-in-champagne-france-and-everything-i-packed-to-get-there/ Day 1: Reims Morning: Started our day at Maison Ruinart tasting some bubbly. You can do a tour, have an extravagant lunch or dinner or simply swing by to enjoy a tasting or a couple of glasses of their champagne and walk around the beautiful property, which is surrounded by stunning art installations. Google reviews may say that you can’t go unless you have a reservation, don’t pay attention to it. We went and had a great time! I wore this cute Doen Ischia dress that was perfect for French countryside, versatile, comfortable and simple yet elegant. Light for the hotter afternoons and beautiful for champagne tastings throughout the day. Afternoon: Cafe Clicquot Early lunch at Cafe Cliquot because I’m a fan, love the story of Widow Cliquot, such a strong boss woman role model; I’ve been to their Carnival in Miami and had to swing by their only permanent Cafe. When in Reims, right? Evening: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre site, sat across from it and just looked at it for a while, every corner was so breathtaking, walked all over town, the cobblestone square is cute. Plenty of cafes and restaurants to go to go for a glass of champagne, wine or whatever you are in the mood for. You can have a cheese plate or a full dinner. The city center has more popular places from high end to quick bites and the shops of course. You can vary depending on your mood.

This is a very pretty town, ours was a short trip but we have already said we would like to return. The food we had wasn’t the best, and to be honest disappointing, but would do more research rather than just stop in the main tourist area next time. The cathedral is a nice place to visit. Lots of really pretty old houses to look at, a great market on certain days to wander around and nice bars to have a drink of the local champagne, what’s not to like?

After a long drive from Calais, I was looking forward to having a good rest and a pleasant stay. I found the hotel quite easily – it’s quite close to the main routes on the outskirts of Sedan. The rooms (for my small group) had been allocated, which helped. Unfortunately, all the rooms were a bit on the small side. The twin bedded room I was in had little room to move around and contained a table that sat in the gap between the beds so I could not get through. Moving it to the foot of the bed meant there was no room to move around anywhere. As I was sharing with my Son, it was clear it wasn’t going to work, so I asked to move rooms and did get moved to a triple room which gave us a bit more space, but not much. The beds are quite small too and my tall Son spent two uncomfortable nights. Additionally, the tiny shower room (no room to turn around in the shower and a toilet with no elbow room) had a problem with the drains...it smelled quite unpleasant. It’s a low-budget hotel that needs to spruce itself up. We went for a walk to see a bit of Sedan – the centre is about 20-30 minutes walk and ok for a night out. There is a Chinese restaurant and a bar about 5-8 minutes walk from the hotel, so it wasn’t too far out.
