"San Pedro is the hub for all tours and activities in the Atacama Desert. We stayed within walking distance of the downtown area. The town is very busy at night and weekends. Many excellent restaurants. Tour companies are all along the main street. I would recommend renting a car and visiting most sites on your own. All main highways are paved and most sites are easy to locate but have dirt/gravel connecting roads from the main highway. Just slow down and take it easy and a sedan will be all you need. A 4X4 is only needed for really difficult off-road travel. I would recommend staying for at least 4 days to have time to see the sites without being rushed."

The staff was extremely friendly and genuinely eager to help — this was a real highlight of our stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and housekeeping was consistently excellent. The free laundry service for stays longer than five nights was a great benefit. The restaurant is also very good, with tasty food, good variety, and fair prices.

Everything ! The boutique hotel is kind of an Oasis in San Pedro itself. You feel yourself at home. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The communication via WhatsApp if you leave for tours early works very well. The breakfast was copious, various fresh fruit options, juice etc, you can order eggs. You can rent a bike for free, they also provide you helmet and reflecting vest. We would definitely recommend Pascual Andino to every traveler to Atacama !

The service is out of this world. The whole staff makes all the effort to make you feel special in your stay. Thats what makes Tierra far ahead of its competitors in Atacama. The food was also a hot topic. Very elaborate dishes and so beautifully presented. I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends.

San Pedro de Atacama is truly a magical destination. The landscapes are absolutely breathtaking, unlike anything I've ever seen, with stunning deserts, salt flats, volcanoes, and some of the clearest night skies in the world. There is a peaceful, spiritual energy about the place that makes it feel incredibly special. The hospitality of the local people made the experience even more memorable. Antofagasta is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't travel there just to visit. If you are travelling in the area then its worth a visit. People were very nice and we experienced some great restaurants.

The views are spectacular in the surrounding areas; the town has a good vibe with great shops and restaurants. There are lots of activities and excursions worth doing nearby. I fully recommend it, although be aware it is a bit expensive and touristic for some.

They waited me long time during check-in, even there is no...

They waited me long time during check-in, even there is no customer in the middle of night. Their credit card machined didn't work, they asked me cash. I offered them to pay with USD but then they directed me another lobby to make this operation. That was totally mess. In addition my corridor was noisy at 5AM in the morning. That's not a nice experience for me.

La Portada is worth visiting.

La Portada is worth visiting. The Huanchaca Ruins Museum unfortunately does not have accessible parking. The parking space at the entrance off a busy avenue has been blocked off with large boulders. Why????

The town is easy to navigate and is presented with pride. The streets are all unsealed but businesses do their best to settle down the dust with the water they mop their properties with each morning and afternoon. It has a very laid back vibe that encourages you to stroll rather than rush (as does the altitude😂)We advise to take a day or two to acclimatise to the altitude of the town before heading to higher altitude on excursions. Make use of the coca candies, leaves and tea as they really help reduce pressure behind the eyes caused by the altitude. These are available at the Ferias. Relax and enjoy. Try Karavan on Caracoles for friendly staff and good food. The favourite place to eat for us was the Bolivian Restaurant on Calama near the corner of Gustavo la Paige called Las Delicias del Carmen. Super tasty food at a good price and friendly staff.

I came to Calama for a day to take the Chuquicamata Mine...

I came to Calama for a day to take the Chuquicamata Mine tour and didn't do much else. It is a modern city with very an efficient public transportation system. It was a real hardship to find information on how to book the tour. The Edificio Caldelco website was totally inadequate in directing visitors on the process of reserving. I will post the current info on how to reserve the tour when I get home.
