It does face the lake, but the rooms are over priced. When we complained management said to booking dot com that we did not show, evidently not true. Would not recommend this hotel."

"Val d'Isere is an upscale Alpine French village -- English is widely spoken, there are many small restaurants/bars, tons of ski/board shops for purchase or rental, pharmacy/medical facility, walk to everhyting, extremely friendly to visitors. The mountains, being among the highest in the Alps, retain good skiing, at altitude, for the entire ski season (the mountain closes May 1). During our visit, there were only a few feet of snow on the slopes (a low-snow year for the Alps), but the snow/skiing was excellent. Being somewhat remote, the village tends to be less overcrowded, even on holidays/blue bird days, than places like Trois Vallees, Megeve, St. Anton ... Lots of hotels, chalets, BnBs ... Generally, a wonderful ski destination for Alpine snow lovers!"

It’s a newly renovated hotel with style. It’s comfy and all the details and been thought of. Many activities for all from ping-pong to mini-football to movie night, and great kids club. The restaurant’s food quality is very good. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Great location. Beautiful and had a great view in the mountains. Very easy to spot, ample parking. The room was very cozy and comfortable. Very large room. Only a 30 or so minute drive to Courchevel. We appreciated the restaurant on site, and the food was very good. We would definitely stay again.

We actually ended up staying here due to an issue with an Airbnb in another city. But it was easy to book, the people were friendly, and the surrounding area to walk around was beautiful. Looked like there was a lot more to explore had we stayed longer.

Bourg is a great location, cheaper than up in the resorts...

Bourg is a great location, cheaper than up in the resorts with a good selection of shops and bars. The funicular runs very regularly to get you up to Arc 1600, and if you don't want to walk to the funicular from the town in boots with gear, you can rent a locker next to the lifts in 1600. Ski-roc does great food, always have the carbonara a couple times a visit but the pizzas are great as well. Esmi had great food also, tried the chicken, sesame salad which was very tasty, loads of veg with a rice base. The new bar in town Iseran Kfe (previously the Stella bar) was very friendly and our goto for a beer.

It's a very nice little town.

It's a very nice little town. I was mainly for cycling, there are plenty of options nearby. I loved the place for that. I will go back next year. We ate kebabs and pizza in the surrounding restaurants, and sometimes we cooked in the apartment. We did not use public transport, or traveled by car or bicycle. There is a kebab place two corners down, the maxi tacos, you have to try them, they are very delicious.

Val D’Isere has wonderful skiing, something for everyone. The town itself is vibrant and just a beautiful old alpine village. Search out the restaurants and bars - again there is something for all tastes. The shops are well worth a browse. It is one of my favourite places to visit!!!

The location is very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and shopping options nearby. Transportation is easy, and the facilities are quite complete, including a fitness center and a cinema, which is a nice bonus. However, I found it confusing that the movie shown in the cinema was different from the one I had purchased a ticket for. Additionally, it can be a bit noisy at night, which may affect light sleepers. Overall, a convenient stay with good amenities, but there are a few issues that could be improved

The ski area is great for everyone. There are plenty of green and blue slopes as well as more challenging runs and snowparks for the advanced skiers. The transportation and lifts are well run and were not too busy despite it being half-term. Good snow on the higher runs. Do not expect English to be spoken, it's a very French resort. Great restaurants and takeaway options, as well as traiteurs selling readymade meals, rotisserie chickens and lots of delicious local cheese and wine.

Large village in a steep sided valley with walks from the...

Large village in a steep sided valley with walks from the village possible, although better to drive up to the starting point of a huge range of alpine walks. Big centre for road and mountain biking. Unfortunately also very popular with motor bikes which can go around in ridiculous large groups. Several restaurants in the village, some only open in the latter half of the week/week end when we were there in September.

I was motorcycling the Route des Grandes Alpes with a friend. This hotel was at a convenient location after descending the col de Izoard at the end of our first full day. The temperature outside was 34c. The hotel provided exactly the kind of break we needed after quite a demanding day. After food and refreshment, a good nights sleep and a superb breakfast we felt well prepared for our next day's riding. I'd recommend this stop to anyone else doing the same trip!

Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports. If you can, we recommend you try the boat cruse around the lake and include a meal on board.
