Lewtrenchard is set in beautiful, tranquil grounds. The interior is full of character and charm-very much an English manor. The bedding was crisp and the bed comfortable, the bathroom was beautifully decorated, and the room very clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was exceptional-flavours were sophisticated and balanced, with high quality produce showcased. Each dish was a work of art.

The place is a real gem - the room was super comfy and particularly well equipped while being both modern and well designed. The lounge and restaurant were the same - very comfy, using the old style of the building while providing some modern qirks. I went in July as I had to visit the university then.

I went in July as I had to visit the university then. Two things worth doing in good weather are: 1) Visiting Greenway (National Trust property) - This is worth doing is you are a fan of Agatha Christie, 20th century life/history and countryside beauty. 2) The walking and cycle paths down the Exe estuary to Dawlish. - Very beautiful, with (if cycling) only one (~100ft) hill between Dawlish Warren and Dawlish. Walkers can avoid that hill by using a seaside path.

A great place for a 2 to 3 night break. Fantastic beaches. Plenty of parking on seafront weather by town centre or on outskirts. (Parking is expensive though free for blue badge holders with on street parking) Town centre OK plenty of food outlets, takeaways etc. Downside of Town Centre lots of feral youths roaming about and drunks hanging about. Weekend Hotel Tariffs expensive but reasonable on weekdays.

Very good resort. Lots of beach room and excellent for swimming etc. Also a very good shopping centre, lots of those small interesting shops and tea rooms. There is also a good selection of restaurants and pubs and also a good bus service if needed to get you to other resorts. Lots going on for the kids as well as the elderly. Go for it! Go to Sidmouth!

We're still not sure that Dartmouth is real.

We're still not sure that Dartmouth is real. With the steam train coming in, the ferry rides, lovely shops and pubs, interesting museum, the landscape that looks more Mediterranean than the UK, and lots of history in and around the town made for a great holiday. Recommend Bayards Cove Inn for a good pub meal, Flapjackery for tasty presents home, the bus to Blackpool Sands or the ferry ride to Dittersham for a trip out. Loads we want to do next time!

Nice walks around the area.

Nice walks around the area. Though walking from Lynton to Lynmouth very steep. Cliff railway came in handy. Beach very clean and tidy. A couple of events going on on the beach. Other places in easy reach by car. Arlington House NT worth a visit and also Dunster Castel and day can be spent at both. Steam Train ride at Woody Bay.

Easy to access the property.

Easy to access the property. The walk along the coast into Salcombe was okay but don’t use the footpath (just after the castle) as it gets very step and difficult to climb (I did it but I am 83 years old). Devon roads are very narrow and difficult to pass oncoming vehicles. I am amazed what I did without damaging my car! I did go via South Pool via East Portlemouth and Start Point so I was a bit adventurous but it was all great!

Its a quiet place, with some pubs, bars and restaurants. Quirky shops and the general shopping as in most places. Walking along the River Taw is pleasant, with some nice parks. If you are looking for hustle and bustle this isn't it. If you are looking to unwind and take a few slow and quiet days then this would be a good place to stay and exlpore. There are enough natural places to visit near by and the coast and beaches are about 30 minutes drive. Highly recommend LUSH restaurant in Barnstaple a really good 9/10 great food, nice cocktails. Right down the other end of town is a clean and tidy cafe called Barnsaple Coffee shop, huge doorstep sandwiches and the food smell great, staff helpful and friendly. Good choice and not too crowded.

Bideford has much to offer with it's own park with a paddling pool and activities for children. Local tourist attractions include The Big Sheep, The Milky Way and plenty of cafes and garden centres offering cream teas and more. There are a number of restaurants and bars to grab food and drinks including a Wetherspoons. There are Westward Ho! and Instow beaches nearby. Westward Ho! has lots to offer from seaside fish n chips, restaurants, arcades, beautiful beach and the essential Hockings ice cream vans! Bideford has a Morrisons and Tescos with Asda up at Atlantic Village outlet centre with many shops all undercover. Nearby Barnstaple offers more high street shops. Bideford is located on the North Devon link road which runs from the M5 through Barnstaple, Bideford and on to Bude.
