Been to Glasgow a number of times to visit family and there's always new places to visit and things to do! We had a great vintage shopping trip and planned a route to visit the thrift shops in the city centre (West Vintage is great!) and over the river near Queen's Park. Got the bus from the city centre to Braeburn Arena to watch the UK Strongman Final. The arena is in a great shopping mall for more shops and the arena is usually an ice skating rink. We tried a few new places to eat including Bread Meats Bread (burgers & poutine), Topolabamba (lovely Mexican small plates) and across the river is Koko House (amazing souffle pancakes, cash only). Had a giant Scottish breakfast at Spitfire Espresso on the High St. Found a cute little beer shop near our accommodation on the High St, going towards Glasgow Cathedral called the Pursuit of Hoppyness. They do all sorts of canned ales, stouts as well as make their own skincare products to buy. Very quirky shop!

This hotel is set in an amazing location with fantastic views of Loch Lomond. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The service and food in the evening restaurant and in the breakfast room were also excellent. Our room was absolutely spotless but quite small, fine for a short stay but would be more challenging if staying for longer. The room had no view which as we were just staying for one night wasnt an issue but would have been disappointing if staying for longer. However, I would stay again if in the area.

We ate in the Drymen in, food was great but the service was awful. I gave up waiting to order a sweet. Yhe Clachan was great food and great service and a fantastic range of whisky's to help with the digestion. Lollipops for lunch was excellent, next time we will try there for dinner. Lanark has a lively High Street with a variety of shops and coffee shops. At the end of the street is St Nicholas church with an impressive statue of William Wallace and if you are planning a visit a little research may be beneficial. A visit to St Mary's Catholic Church is well worth a visit to see the beautiful interior and a newly installed interactive information screen is helpful. There is a railway station providing a link to Glasgow and other interesting towns. A few miles away is the visitors centre at New Lanark which gives an insight into the workings and employees of cotton mill. It is situated nest to the Clyde River with a walkway to view the River falls.
