We really liked the location of the property, as well as the view of the harbor. The room itself is quite large and beautifully decorated. The lounge area is really interesting and beautifully put together.

FAQs about hotels in Loch Lomond

A Real Jewel of the Scottish Highlands

Set amongst the hills and mountains of the Scottish Highlands, Loch Lomond is one of the country’s largest lakes featuring over 30 islands and surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque villages. Immortalised by a 19th-century song "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond", this majestic lake is part of Scotland’s first national park.

Start your journey at Balloch, where you can get on a direct train from Glasgow in less than an hour. Popular with tourists, the town has plenty to offer; from Loch Lomond Shores, a complex mixing leisure and shopping opportunities to Balloch Castle Country Park, ideal for a pleasant walk.

You can catch a boat going up the Loch Lomond and admire the lake and the surrounding mountains, including the highest peak, Ben Lomond, at 974 metres. Just 12 km from Balloch, there is the small village of Drymen, a popular stop for hikers with what is claimed to be the oldest pub in Scotland, The Clachan.

The area of Loch Lomond is great for hiking, golfing and water sports, making it a perfect destination for those into the outdoors or sports activities. Visiting the lake’s largest island, Ichmurrin, is also a must, the views from there are truly unforgettable!

We had an exceptional time at Tullie from the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and courteous. Check-in was a breeze and the room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was inclusive and the food options were enjoyable. The bar area and outside beer gardens were also great to utilise. Parking available on site and side access to accommodation area if staying out later than when the front doors are locked for the evening. Access to local tours on the Loch easy access from hotel just across the road.

Hamish, the general manager, was filling in as bartender. He was SO friendly and welcoming! He spent several hours chatting everybody up and making the atmosphere wonderful. We loved his banter with his English friend haha This location was great and every staff member went out of their way to say hello and chat. Highly recommend!

This hotel is set in an amazing location with fantastic views of Loch Lomond. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The service and food in the evening restaurant and in the breakfast room were also excellent. Our room was absolutely spotless but quite small, fine for a short stay but would be more challenging if staying for longer. The room had no view which as we were just staying for one night wasnt an issue but would have been disappointing if staying for longer. However, I would stay again if in the area.

Great village in a superb location. The coffee shop is great. Unfortunately we were let down by the takeaway food from the pub, which took well over an hour and was clap cold! Unfortunately there are little other options. Eating in would have worked out better I think.

The area is nicely located in between several lochs. Many footpaths can be used, some are easy and even suitable for smaller children, others are more demanding like going on top of some of the nearby summits with great views. Swimming is possible in several locations, also for smaller children. If you are on self-catering, make sure to grab enough food on your way up as there is hardly any local foodstore. The picture shows the view from the Tarbet "house mountain" (Cruach Tairbert) down south, Loch Lomond left, Loch Long right.

Perfect location for walking Ben Lomond.

Perfect location for walking Ben Lomond. Due to tourism it’s very busy so getting food at local hotel was a no go and booking in advance is required. Drymen had a few options but that meant a drive and no drink. But for those walking the Ben this place is more than ideal.

Like many other small towns across the UK, Dumbarton town centre, if it can be called such, is small, run-down and in decline. It also has the ubiquitous junkies and beggars that plague every town and city these days. The surrounding streets, however, have some lovely properties; there are parks, streams, views across the river, the remnants of an old castle, and the locals are open and friendly. If not for the dismal high street, it would be a very nice place to live or visit.

I liked the close proximity to West Highland Way and it was quiet. The bed was hard, the food portion are small other walkers remarked upon this as well. I clearly communicated dairy intolerance and asked for light mayonnaise just mustard. The instructions were marked on my ordering sheet for staff preparing take away lunch, however the instruction were not followed my sandwich contained cheese, large amount of mayonnaise, which I specifically asked to leave off resulting in me not being able to eat the sandwich.
