"Visiting Petén, Tikal, Flores and its surroundings has been an amazing experience. Totally recommended. We stayed at Ramada and Gamaliel at front desk was most helpful and provided great recommendations and contacts. When visiting Tikal, make sure to ask for the itinerary and don’t accept to stay only 4 hours. We were offered that and refused it, so the travel agency offer to pick us late, which was the best decision to enjoy on our own after the guided tour. We could relax and take lots of pictures without the pressure from agency. The food in Isla Flores was great in all the places we tried, but mostly in la Casa de Enrico. We asked for destinations around the island and went to Museum at Santa Barbara, Mirador of Rey Canek and El Chechenal. Totally well invested day! The only thing is that there’s an arqueological site where el mirador is located and we couldn’t visit it as we didn’t know about it. Definitely we want to return and we would recommend the destination."

Great location, hidden away in the forest. Big room with great views from the large balcony. Very efficient ferry service from hotel to Flores Island. The staff were all friendly. The airport transfers went very smoothly. The two staff members on reception (Brayam? and Danila?) were both very helpful when we had a problem with a cancelled flight and a lost phone. They also helped us book a good trip to Tikal.

The hotel was basic: basic bed, basic bed coverings, basic towels, tiny bars of soap and small packages of shampoo. The property was relatively clean and the AC worked well the one time we used it. The staff was very nice & the location was fabulous, close to restaurants and in-town activities. We thought the price of the room was fair for the condition of the property. Interestingly, we were there during a town celebration, which meant that the fireworks started at 4:30 AM - yes, at 4:30 in the morning! That was a total surprise!!

Very good, but just about the island..which is very calm and cozy. And depending the season you go, it changes the experience. In the summer is really very hot, more than 40 degrees. So, keep that in mind.

it is a small village by the lake, 20 plus minutes away from...

it is a small village by the lake, 20 plus minutes away from the entrance of Tikal national park by car. it has nice restaurants, cafes and markets as well as motels for a lot cheaper than it is inside the park. we felt safe there even though it was just one overnight stay.

Flores is the closest airport to Tikal National Park but the...

Flores is the closest airport to Tikal National Park but the Isle of Flores is a great little area to visit in the area as well! Flores is about 45 min-1hr from the gates of Tikal National Park. The roads at the time of writing were good and safe for tourists to drive. Tikal National Park is the biggest draw to this area and the sunrise viewed from Temple IV is not to be missed.

It’s rustic, welcoming tranquility with the perfect peaceful outlook with access to the small community and places of distinct interest like Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo and Tikal. When returning from a day of tours the menu is set up for a broad range of needs, vegetarian options to seafood and meat options. Simple yet broad with local honey and yoghurts etc

Nice touristic city. A lot of bars and restaurants. Much higher prices on the island than in the other side of the lake. Trip to Old City of Maya’s is a must. We had a great guide, all well organised.

Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena.

Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena. You can easily get the colectivo for 25 QTZ to flores, and it drops you back in centre of El Remate. Sometimes they even go to your hostel along the main road if you ask nicely. A few restaurants and shops but the highlight is definitely the views of the lake, sunset over the water, sitting on the dock!
