Room 509 was perfect for our family. We loved the skylights and the separation between the kids and the parents beds. The bathroom large enough for 4 of us. We will definitely stay again when in Athlone.

They are doing up the rooms and the bedding pillows etc are new and the bathroom newly updated so nice and clean. Lots of bedroom doors were left open so you could see the updating, not necessary to see all of that made it feel like you were in the middle of a project which of course you are. They have all the good basics. Staff friendly. We didn’t eat there. Biggest nasty was the carpet in the hallways which was disgusting. Filthy and covered in paint and dirt. Not ok. I guess they are waiting until the rooms are finished until they lay a new one?? The hotel has great potential if they go for it. Bar looked nice and breakfast area looked ok not sure if they use it as we were told breakfast was in the bar. Rooms are basic but good. Need pics and few decorative details also in the hallways. Just change the hall carpets and on the stairs they are gross! Think they should reduce the rates while their work is going on.

These Apartments are absolutely brilliant, our stay was made so enjoyable due to the comfort we enjoyed while staying here, large sitting room with 3 sofas, dining table & chairs, cable tv with Netflix, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Microwave, Fridge, The bedrooms had a very comfortable double bed & Single bed, en-suite bathroom, ironing board, iron & hairdryer, the apartments were spotless clean, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, especially Mohammed, the owner Maureen is just the nicest host to deal with on the phone ensuring our stay went great, please note there are stairs up to the apartments which were not to bad as the staff carry your luggage up for you, Overall these apartments are better, if not the best to stay in ,than other places we have stayed in Athlone, as they are right in the town center.

We only had a 1 night stay here.

We only had a 1 night stay here. We would definitely have stayed longer. 2 nights would have been lovely. However, upon arrival we were greeted at Reception by 2 lovely people. Immediately we were poured a refreshing sparkling drink and after a little bit of banter were shown to our room. The room opened out onto a small terrace which looked on to the Lake. The sound of the water lapping up towards was so tranquil. The room was beautiful. A large bed with a porthole window above it with the light shining through from the en suite. The room was extremely comfortable. Complimentary Water, cookie, crisps and dark chocolate. Tea making facilities in the room with real milk in the fridge... After we settled in we made our way to the Spa where we had Back Massages booked. The staff here were so nice and after an initial consultation we were taken for our treatments which were very well received. We then went downstairs to the Infinity pool. Such a treat. We had booked the Hot Tub after that. Off we headed in our robes again outside where there was a beautiful wood burning stove. Rhian showed us down to the Hot Tubs and after he filled glasses with Proscecco he left us to 39 minutes of pure bliss. The rain was pouring down but we were in heaven in our 40 degree plus Heat of water. We had our meal booked for 8.45pm. However we arrived early to the bar for a drink where we were shown menus and our order was taken. Once we were shown to our table the food was out in a jiffy. No waiting around here. Our meal was delicious washed down with a Fantastic recommendation of a bottle of wine. Although we hadn't room for dessert our server arrived out with a beautiful treat for us as we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely thoughtful touch. All in all we'd a lovely stay and would certainly return.

If you are into boating yes it definitely is the place for you. The area is well kept and there seemed to be good facilities there, playgrounds, sports fields etc. Some nice local history and information signs placed around the town. The area might be nice for some cycling although not on the main roads I think.

Waldo and his family were very welcoming and willing to help. Everything was great. Superb warm comfortable room. Spotlessly clean. I really enjoyed the shower experience, it was just amazing and exceptional. The family offered a full Irish breakfast and the value is exceptional. I recommend the property for families or group. Roscommon has several diverse pubs and restaurants.

Roscommon has several diverse pubs and restaurants. Breakfast tends to open at 09:00 and service ends about 21:00. Pubs stay open till 23:00 or so weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The circle K is 24 hours. Some pizza places stay open and serve till 23:30. It has several men's and women's clothing shops. Pharmacies and gift shops. Other dry goods and a Supervalue and Tesco. It is a very walkable town and both the Castle and Old Abbey are a few walking minutes from downtown. We ate at the Cozy Cafe( closed Sundays), The Rogue Cafe and The Pantry for breakfast. All were very pleasant. We liked Ryan's Bar. Quietish and Michael was a great host/barman. We had dinner at Regans, Jackson's and China King. ~€100 for three adults with wine. We really enjoyed the walkable nature of the town. Especially, coming back to Tatlers Guesthouse after spending time at the pubs.

Lanesborough is a boring town with few facilities and average pubs. There is now a decent coffee shop where the butchers was, but of course there is now no butchers. There is a mini supermarket which is OK but nothing special. The saving grace is that it is on one ‘corner’ of Lough Ree so has water frontage and nicest views, but they don’t make the most of it. The blot on the landscape is the disused power station that looms over the town, the sooner that is dismantled the better. Locals are pretty friendly and welcoming
