The staff and management treated me beyond my expectations, I truly loved how much effort they put into everything I asked or needed. Will bring my family here in the future! I was not aware the main two helping me are the owners until my second week staying there.

The hotel was big and modern, and that was also reflected on the room. It was spacious, with ample space for all your belongings. All the amenities were already in your room so that’s great. The bathroom was clean with a big bathtub. Location was great, only a few minutes from the station and neighboring shops and restaurants. The staff were attentive and friendly!

As I didn't eat at the hotel, I cannot make any judgment about the food quality, but for me the access to several top onsen in the hotel, beside the several public ones in the town made my stay at the hotel very pleasant. One of them is even open all night long until 10AM. My traditional bedroom was also a strong point. At some point after I checked in, someone came and prepared my bed. The staff was very nice, and despite their limited English, made its utmost to serve me. The hotel is located within 5 minutes from a bus station, close to Awaraonsen and from which you can board a bus to Eihei-ji temple or Tojimbo in the other direction. If you wish to visit both places, you can buy a two day pass for this bus line.

Convenient location next to station, spacious room, breakfast was included. I would stay here again. I won’t write this next part in the “dislike/negative” review section as it has nothing to do with the hotel, but next trip I would allow more than a single night for this area. It is a smaller town than others, so transit options are less frequent. Unfortunately, I had to cut some activities from my itinerary in order to get to my next destination in time. I will plan better next time.

Everything was great. Comfortable stay. With wife and family. The Japanese style dinner and breakfast was delicious and with the excellent server's gave it a wonderful experience. The inside onsen was good, but the outside onsen hot spring was perfect for this time of year with the cool air around you. Great View of the mountains from our 7th floor room. Recommended for those who want to have real Japanese style experience.

This is a very affordable hotel and probably why so many families were staying there. They provide well-designed, completely free lockers for our luggage pre check-in and post check-out; they have a good laundry room; they provide nightshirts and slippers. In short, they make it travel a little easier and affordable than most places.

Enjoyed the Dinosaur museum!

Enjoyed the Dinosaur museum! I was surprised by the number of dinosaur species on display. We really enjoyed the Ichijodani museum and especially the towns preserved history. Learned a lot about the Asakura family in Japan's history. The Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple was really awesome. It was remote, beautiful, and spiritual.

We had a short, but wonderful time to re-connect with our family in Ono. They still produce this great, hand crafted soy source sold all over Japan. The castle in the clouds and the "little Kyoto"street plus the weekend market were the highlights of our trip. I know this town during many visits and see the transformation into an outstanding tourist destination. If you like the feeling of a living, traditional town come yourself and be surprised. 5 travellers from New Zealand

Eihei-ji was a surprisingly large temple that you can see inside for a reasonable price - take the bus from Fukui Station, I took the Echizen Train and it wasn't convenient at all. Maruoka Castle was interesting as one of only 12 original castles left in Japan, although it won't take that long to see everything and the visitor centre. Awara Onsen had a huge station. It was confusing for a day-tripper about where to go for a bath, it seems like most of the nicer ones don't open to the public until mid-afternoon.

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. When you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families. The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆
