The hostel is just 600m from the Ono train station and can easy be reached by foot. The staff members are very welcoming, speaking good english and provide you with all information in written form for the hostel and also for Ono itself. The hostel has a simple standard with a common area on the 1st floor and the rooms are on floor 2 and 3 (staircase only). The room had bunkbeds but comfortable to sleep on and with windows from top to bottom you have great lighting and the sun coming in and a nice view of the mountains. Nothing to worry about, the big curtain will help you to sleep at night. Sleeping masks and ear plugs are provided as well. Ono castle and other historical sights are all in walking distance and if needed a local bus can also be used. If you like to do some trail running, Ono is a great place to stay at and it is just a short run until your in the forrest and up to the mountains reaching up to around 2.500m. And since your in the country side things are easy going and quiet, but prepare for the local wildlife and check the general informations provided. I liked it very much here in Ono and staying at the hostel and will stay here again next time.

Had entertainment areas for both little kids and adults. Had a big chalk board to draw on, dinosaur playroom that was spacious and fun, massage chair that nearly put me to sleep, ping pong table, billiard table, and best of all laundry area. They had onsen too but due to my tattoos I couldn’t enjoy it. But I still love the place.

Great comfortable Japanese style house, very friendly and helpful owner. We stayed in winter and it was comfortable with the various heaters. Bath with a view. When we came back after a trip all snow was neatly shoveled away.

We had a short, but wonderful time to re-connect with our family in Ono. They still produce this great, hand crafted soy source sold all over Japan. The castle in the clouds and the "little Kyoto"street plus the weekend market were the highlights of our trip. I know this town during many visits and see the transformation into an outstanding tourist destination. If you like the feeling of a living, traditional town come yourself and be surprised. 5 travellers from New Zealand

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. When you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families. The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆
