So much space for the price. It’s right in front of the beach for an amazing view. The host was super accommodating. He helped me make restaurant reservations (which you 100% need as restaurants fill up quick), gave me recommendations for what to do on the island and he even provided a bike so I can travel the island in a unique way. After visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, this hotel was the perfect place to recharge from the chaos of the city. I can’t recommend it enough.

The staff were very friendly and extra helpful. They properly explained the features and facilities of the hotel, as well as the rules and regulations. They were also very prompt. Dinner was served exactly at 6:30PM. Talking about the dinner, it was exceedingly delicious and sumptuous. There were a total of 13 Japanese dishes, and the staff took time to explain how to eat them and in what order. The hotel also had both private and public onsens (shared with other guests). My friends and I had the best experience, given that we had just completed our Kumano Kodo. Breakfast was equally delicious. Lastly, we are deeply grateful to the staff member who drove us to the nearest bus station to ensure that we did not miss our forward schedule. Everyone, book your stay at the Yunominesou. It’s super worth it.

- Location is great, seaside view but we have to drive for long distance to climb the mountain before reach to the hotel. It's very peaceful place. - Dinner is superb. I had travelled in Japan along 12 years, more than 10 trips, stayed in over 30 ryukan. I could say this hotel provides the best dinner meals in my life-experiences in Japan. Super appreciate about this. - Dinner is super big portion, fresh food, quality ingredients, very delicious. - Breakfast also great but come with smaller size compare with dinner. - Onsen is great also, could see many stars in the sky in outdoor area. - All facilities in the room are perfect.

Amazing place to stay, extremely recommended. A really great experience in general - I stayed in one of the suites and could not have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful place to stay, only a short walk from Okunoin Cemetary and an easy walk to the rest of town. Very close to the bus stop from Koyasan Station. Staff were always helpful and the meals were unbelievably delicious and satisfying, even though I needed to ask for a soy-free modification. The best food I ate during my stay!

We had a wonderful stay with our family. The staff were friendly and always ready to help, which made us feel very welcome. And we had a stunning view from our balcony—it made our stay even more memorable.

We LOVED this huge seaside hotel-- especially the cave onsen. It's got some of that Japan bubble aesthetic, as it was opened in 1956 and updated throughout Japan's boom times. Our room had an incredible view of the sea, and it was fun to just roam around the hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Great place to visit; just enough off of the beaten track that it felt much less crowded than other areas we visited (Nara, Kamakura, e.g.). It helped that we stayed overnight, so the following morning in particular was a great time for sight seeing.

Shirahama beach for us was a base for exploring Wakayama.

Shirahama beach for us was a base for exploring Wakayama. We found it a little run down and dated as a seaside resort but there were obvious efforts to redevelop and modernise it. We found good restaurants and bars open at the end of May. I imagine it gets very busy in peak summer season. SUNTIDE cafe and bar, BLUE Restaurant & bar, Pizzeria Pescatore were great food and drink spots in May. You really need a car to explore the area.

The location was fantastic - proximity to Lawson & the Tuna Auction Venue as well as the closeness of the Bus (to Nachi Fall)& Train Stations was absolutely convenient. The money I paid for 2 nights with private shower & toilet was a steal. Initial Registration as a guest was a bit of a hassle though it was very convenient checking out with the iPad after I familiarised myself with the technology. Unfortunately the eating facilities at the port where the giant Tuna was were closed for the New Year (January) & I missed eating the grilled Tuna then.

Shingu is a small coastal town with few hills which is a wonderful to find after 10 days hiking on the mountainous Kumano Kodo pilgrimage walks. One of the 3 Great Shrines is here and very accessible whether walking or driving. Getting to and from Shingu is very easy with the train station and bus station being together in the center of town. It is a good base for reaching the other 2 Great Shrines of the Kumano Kodo at Hongu and Nachisan. There are a number of good eateries in the town but one of the joys was just wandering down laneways and discovering little gems not listed in the usual guides.

There's so much to do and see in this small fishing town. We took a tuna market tour with Stella Locals, which was full of cool info and great reccomendations. There a sightseeing boat tour, some unique craft stores and great restaurants. We only stayed 2 nights, definitely needed another night. There's an island you can walk to on the other side of town we didn't have time to see.
