The infinity pool overlooking the beach was beautiful and the beach is more private and quieter here making it my preference over the nearby flic en flac beach.
A fantastic experience, would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday by the sea! Thank you to all here for making my stay so memorable

La Pirogue doesn’t try too hard to impress — and that’s exactly why it does. It just gets the important things right: space, atmosphere, and those little details that make you feel at ease.
We stayed for 5 nights and it never felt like a hotel, but rather like a little village we didn’t want to leave.
The bungalow setup is probably La Pirogue’s secret weapon. Everyone has their own space, spread out across beautifully maintained grounds, so it never feels crowded or “resorty.” It has this relaxed, almost boho vibe (in the best possible way).
The beach is huge, with plenty of high-quality sunbeds. And the sunsets… Just wow! Sitting there with a view of Le Morne Brabant in the distance feels almost unreal. The sea is also very swimmable — calm, clear, and not too deep.
We also really appreciated the refillable water bottles provided in the room.
The bungalow itself was very comfortable, with AC you can actually control (which, after staying in places with “decorative thermostats,” felt like a luxury). The entire hotel grounds are incredibly well maintained — you can see the effort everywhere you look.

We had a wonderful winter surrounded by the natural beauty of Mauritius. The fresh air and the unique atmosphere of the eco-village, along with the cozy lodges, made our stay exceptional. Every evening, we enjoyed barbecues by the fireplace. The hiking and horseback riding experiences for our daughter were also delightful. Both breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel were perfect, thanks to the fresh, high-quality ingredients used.

The service was impeccable. They made sure that room was made for nighttime and for morning when we are out. Given we were vegetarian and had a 1 year-old kid, special menu was prepared for all our meals. The food was great. The pool was heated. The beach had privacy. Overall, totally recommended.

Krishna, the manager and his teams went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Both of my companions are disabled, the team went out of their way to help us by wheeling them everywhere they desire . The food is excellent with exotic variety. Services are top-notch.

I really liked the peaceful and comfortable atmosphere at Son House Studio. The studio was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with good facilities, including a kitchen, which made our stay very convenient. The balcony was also a lovely addition and made the stay even more enjoyable.
The location in Flic-en-Flac was excellent, with easy access to the beach, restaurants, supermarkets, and other amenities. Zub Express Indian Restaurant is very close by, and Carrefour Supermarket is also easily accessible for daily essentials.
The owners were extremely kind, trustworthy, and helpful throughout our stay. They also arranged taxis and rental vehicles for us, which made travelling around Mauritius much easier and more convenient.
Overall, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The combination of a great location, clean and well-equipped accommodation, a nice balcony, and the excellent support from the owners made our experience truly enjoyable. I would happily recommend Son House Studio to anyone visiting Flic-en-Flac.

The beach is beautiful but if you are not staying at one of the 5 star resorts you risk being treated as a second-class citizen. We positioned our beach towels quite close to the palm trees of one of the resorts (Lux Le Morne, I believe) and were told (quite aggressively) to move them away. Just because we are not staying at the resort does not mean we are some kind of second class citizen! We also wanted to spend our money at their beachfront restaurant but were not allowed, nor were we allowed to pay for watersports / snorkelling from their kiosk! It is at least comforting to know that we were not rude to them, like they were to us! We eventually found the security and watersports staff at Dinarobin Resort to be more friendly and accommodating and they allowed us to book snorkelling and a glass bottom boat trip. Thanks Dinarobin! If we come back to Le Morne we will stay with you!

Riviere Noire is a beautiful area, with good supermarkets...
Riviere Noire is a beautiful area, with good supermarkets and restaurants although some can be very expensive. La Bonne Chute Restaurant is to be avoided at all costs. Any complaint to the manager is just discarded as she was the owner. The local beach, La Preneuse, is very near, with beautiful white sand.

For this location you need a car.
For this location you need a car. There is a big parking lot on the property. Property is very big, pool looks nice, but since it was winter we didn't swim in it. Mr. Jean Pierre cleaned it every day. All and all stay was nice.

it is ideal for a short stay as if you would like to do more tours the location is bit far from everything and very challenging to reach. the best is to stay there and visit the nearby places around Chamarel.

La Gaulette is a good place to discouver the south of Mauritius, specially if you want to enjoy Le Morne beach, climb Le Morne or visit other nice beaches like St. Felix or La Praire or Bel Ombre. There are some shops (including a big supermarket).

Albion is a Mauritian village , located on the West Coast off the beaten track & away from the tourist holiday hot spots.
There is a local palm shaded beach with toilets & changing facilities, to enjoy safe swimming & magnificent sunsets.
Food & other supplies are available at the local Albion Mall Dodo Supermarket
Living with the local Mauritians enhanced our holiday experience as we got the know some of these friendly and gentle people.

The Receptionist was polite and helpful - he made ordering food easy and stress free plus he answered lots of questions from me!

Weather forecasting is bad on all mediums, I had some cloud so visited Port louis, rain/drizzle disappeared fast. I was lucky most of my visit was blessed with sharp blue skies and pretty white clouds. Alot of misinformation about Mauritius online ?
You have to go and make your own judgement. Locals are very friendly with no pestering what so ever. Poverty is around but the local people are lovely.
