"I am a regular before the MCO. This trip is my first visit and after that will be on monthly basis. I love the foods here but since MCO, Many Businesses closed down but some still survived. Some new outlets and will take time to explore all this in this few months. I will always support the local businesses and spend my money locally indirectly helping to boost the local economy. Let hope every breadwinners will be able to put foods on the table for their family. It is time to move on and work hard after the pandemic. May GOD bless everyone ....."

It’s very quite. The staff is very very nice. Very nice experience for me and my mom to come to this bungalow. The food is good taste but a little bit simple, because there is only one chef for cooking and she’s a local. However we enjoy the food

Best place we’ve stayed at in Malaysia so far. Great location - right next to the KK night market. Really nice, clean room with so many amenities! Water, fridge (for all out market goodies) slippers, iron, + thoughtful details like an umbrella, and much more. All presented beautifully with nice ribbons and packaging. The hosts were very attentive, helpful and kind. They made sure that our every need was addressed. They even accommodated for a slightly later check out due to some issues we had. Very updated look + free upgrade to a window room. It is easy to see they take great pride in their accommodations and a positive experience for their guests. Loved our stay here and would come again.

I stayed at the Sheraton from 21–22 January and had a wonderful experience. Guests are welcomed with drinks upon check-in, which was a lovely touch. The hotel’s location is very strategic, offering easy access to everything I needed. The sunset at Skybar was stunning to watch!!! The room is clean and spacious with excellent city views and modern decor. A special shoutout to the reception staff, who were humble, friendly and genuinely helpful. They even went the extra mile to assist me with activating my Marriott membership, which I truly appreciated. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my stay and would absolutely choose to stay here again!

The hotel is kept very clean and tidy it’s the tourists that don’t clean up after themselves that creat the mess but the staff are in it very quickly. The room we had was in the fourth floor with a rear facing view but to be honest your in your room to shower and sleep. The beds was comfy shower really good. Water tea and coffee replenished every day and it’s decent size mugs in your room. We ate one evening meal as we like to explore and it was very nice. Decent portions and not over priced. The breakfast was nice it catered for all different cultures and was plentiful. We were a bit disappointed at how people piled their plates and didn’t eat it then went back for more. The pool area is lovely very relaxing and we always found a sun lounger it got quieter mid morning. All the staff are super friendly and always willing to help. It’s about a fifteen to twenty min walk into town where you will see local culture. And it’s a pathway all the way. You’ll be greeted with lots of hello from the locals. This is my honest opinion and obviously make your own conclusions. Would I stay here again YES it’s definitely worth what you pay.

I saw comments that the hotel is dated but I think there is charm about it and it's not bad. I have booked a room with sea view and balcony and my room was very big. The bathroom has walk in shower and bath too. There are 3 different swimming pools and garden. In the complex is a small shop with water, drinks, ice cream, snacks and souvenirs. The breakfast was very generous with many different Asian and European food options. The complex offers multiple restaurants. I was expecting more sea food but due low season not all were open. Beach has sun beds and umbrellas and it was mainly empty. Big waves for surfing and beach was so long, great for walk. If you stay use their wellness center it's special and the service was amazing.

Nice city. It was more modern than I expected.

Nice city. It was more modern than I expected. Please note that you will not be able to see any orangutans in the area: the one in the KK wildlife park is a older, lethargic one. You will be able to see the big-nosed monkeys in a day tour or the wildlife park near the city. For oragutans, you really have to travel to another Borneo city hours away. So check your expectations if this is your reason to come to Borneo. In fact, all places to see around KK are far to reach. Day trips take a long time, getting out and back to the city. The marine park across the city is worth trying but despite the pier, the ticket system remains confusing and not easy for non-Malay visitors.

There’s not a lot to do or see in Sempora. It’s a jump off spot to local diving and islands. The best coffee I found is at McDonalds. Bought my Australian friend to view the Kundasang War Memorial, was a good place to learn about history and enjoy the fresh air and amazing views of the surrounding area. We ate sayap (Sabah-style BBQ honey chicken wings) and had a walkaround at the local markets selling various veges and fruits. Walking alongside the locals really gave a huge sneak peek into the lives of the people there. Rent a car if you wanna visit Kundasang fully, I am a local who only brought my foreign friend and we all had an amazing time.

Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people.

Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people. You cannot find a bar or restaurant apart from where you are staying. There is no alcohol available due to their Muslim religion, however you can bring your own but also bring an esky. It is very unspoiled and a nice place to relax and enjoy the peace of the jungle. The boat tours are 3 times per day, where you can see many different birds, monkeys and if you are lucky like we were, the pygmy elephants. All of this is seen from a narrow boat on the river holding around 10 people. I highly recommend Sukau and particularly the Tommanggong River B&B. The accommodation for 2 was around AUS$50 /night and the tours approx AUS$25/person. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the river, plants and animals. I highly recommend this tour for people of all ages and origins.

The kinabatangan river is a lovely setting to see an array of wildlife. There are various companies doing river cruising so it’s up to your budget and what you want to get out of it. Our lodge was simple, clean and spacious but with everything you needed to get an awesome experience. Our guides and boat operators were highly skilled and felt 100% safe on the water. They went out of their way to ensure we got the best experience. The food was exceptional and plentiful. All the staff including Linda, Nein, Tenten, and Sa were very professional.

The choices for food was off the charts.

The choices for food was off the charts. We loved the seafood choices at restaurants. Neyalan Seafood Restaurant and Welcome Seafood is a must do experience for any traveler/ The Waterfront Esplanade spoilt us for choices. We fell in love with the only Italian Wine / Food Restaurant. Excellent collection of imported wines and awesome pairings from seafood, pasta, meat cuts, cheeses and steaks. Doing a North Borneo Cruise 2-hour sunset with an excellent dinner and dance experience in the Bay of Kota Kinabalu, is must do, as well as the Hop On, Hop Off Bus Experience which includes 16 sites and three long stops. Overall KK has many other experiences outside of the city which we never got to in six days. Grab is the best e-hailing as opposed to hiring a car. Parking and city traffic can be very challenging. Most city hotels are within walking distance of the waterfront and shopping malls.
