"Haarlem has everything you need: lodging, restaurants (fine dining closes late but many others are closed by 9pm!), ambience with lots of canals, a 10-15 min ride by train to the Amsterdam main hubs, shopping and best of all: walkable. Family friendly for those of us who don't want "coffee shops" and tons of night life. We stayed 3 days and nights in Haarlem. The Ten Boom House is in the middle of old Haarlem and I recommend this to see another great family who was working in the Resistance against Naziism. You will need to book a tour of the house and to hear the story, hours currently are 10 am-4pm. Read the book "The Hiding Place" to follow their story that includes being sent to concentration camps. Tour is free but donations are welcome."

The location is very good , just 4 bus stop to the central station . 3-5 minute walking to bus stop. The room is spacious, clean , has everything you need for the trip. Staff is helpful. Spa and gym is a bonus. There is laundry and iron on the first floor. We like the July and will definitely come back.

Staff incredibly friendly (expected, since it is a school), good and very quiet bedroom, parking lot available. The breakfast was a little weird, we had to wait for them to come to our table and get our order. Not so many options available, considering a hotel breakfast. But, what was available was very good.

This hotel had the best reception staff I have ever experienced. On arrival you are personally greeted and offered an arrival drink. I had tea as I was exhausted! It gets you off to a very good start. Our room was amazing, downstairs on the canal with a special chair that allowed you to sit level with the canal and watch the boats go by. I have never stayed in anything like it. I loved our stay here.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It looks older but our room was renovated. It was perfect for the two of us. The bathroom was clean and spacious. We had lots of storage space. We loved that we could open the balcony door to get a breeze in on the super hot nights and also appreciated the awesome fan on the ceiling. It was less than a five minute walk to the train station and a short walk to stores. We liked that you could rent a beach towel and be at the beach in a short walk. The breakfast spread was next level. I have never seen so many options at a hotel breakfast. Well worth the money and would set us up for our day. Thank you to the hotel for ensuring I had gluten free options for breakfast. I never had to ask, the ladies brought it out every morning when I arrived. The ladies working there were wonderful! All the staff were so kind! Great value and would definitely stay here again! Thank you! :)

I requested the 16th floor and the view was incredible. The elevator takes 45 seconds, it's really high up. I brought my 18x binoculars, when the weather was clear I was able to see Amsterdam landmarks such as Adam Tower, Westerkerk, Rembrant tower, Zuidas, etc, over 26km away. Really cool to see this stuff from Zandvoort. +Incredible view +Very clean, recently renovated +Rain shower with good pressure +Nice toiletries and towels +Comfortable Bed, soft sheets +Mini fridge +SmartTV with Youtube and fast internet +Great value, especially during off season

Our stay in one of the houses was fantastic! The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The location was ideal, offering a peaceful retreat close to the bustling center of Amsterdam. There are two options available for transportation to tourist attractions: by car or by public transport. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and convenient place to stay in the Netherlands.

For me it’s 10 out of 10. I soo love these types of hotels. Staying at this hotel feels like stepping into a living, breathing work of art. Every corner, every detail is thoughtfully curated with artistic elements that captivate the eye and ignite the imagination. There is a cat lives there that also gives a charm. Free coffee( not bad at all), water , tea at bar area. Will definitely stay there again next time

Perfect beach front for family with young kids, all the restaurants are very child friendly the beach is not deep so I wasn’t worried for the kids.. Nuis and Kayuca are great restaurants in the beach front.. We occasionally dig in the food trucks which is delicious as well.. The beach will be enough to keep the kids busy and for the parents to relax 😎

Haarlem is a wonderful city it feels safe & is clean & welcoming. Easily reached by train from Schipol airport which takes you into a large well organised train station that lies just to the North of the main city & its canals. The canals are worth exploring with a guided or self drive tour. A walk out to the former Victorian era round prison is worthwhile it has been converted into work spaces, offices, cinema, restaurant & hotel. The city walls are all gone but there is one gate that has been renovated although it is not open it gives an idea of the scale. The windmill is well worth a visit it is run by enthusiastic & knowledgeable volunteers.

The actual town was just a town, nothing to see really except local shops. There was a WW2 bunker/museum just along from the hotel but the Google information about opening times was not accurate, I was stood at the locked front door when Google said it was open. Check before planning a visit.

A modern tower block next to a MacDonalds, and a large dual carriageway. Facilities for dining and socialising incredibly restricted and dull. Seems to be full of workers - smoking outside the front door. Bedrooms claim to be deluxe, they are clean and pleasant - not deluxe by any stretch of the imagination.

If this means the town itself, well, there are more historic and "prettier" Dutch towns but it has everything you need. The 'centre' is hard to find but there is a station from where you can get to Den Gelder, Amsterdam, etc. Bike parking in the station is NOT secure. There ARE NO CAMERAS anywhere. The supermarket, Jumbo, has a wide range of items. I ate twice at the restaurant 't Schippersrijk" and it is absutely EXCEPTIONAL. Love lakeside setting , nice ambience and excellent food and service. If you want to explore North Holland, then this is a good base.

Astronomical cost of on street parking, but no different to other areas of the Netherlands. Pharmacies in town don't appear to sell much medication for colds/flu. Interesting museum for local history. Seemed there was more need to book an evening meal at some restaurants on Sunday evenings.

This is a great hub for those not wanting to stay in Amsterdam. You have fast, convenient train access to many cute little towns and larger cities, and there is a lot to see in Haarlem as well. The atmosphere is laid back, many restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating, a wonderful market in the square. Doesn't feel too touristy. Very easy to walk to the sites, and very kid friendly.

I had been to IJmuiden as a child many times and I am familiar with the neighbouring towns we had intended to visit. Instead, we went further afield and upon the advice of the staff we planned our route slightly different. The staff are very very competent and knowledgeable, always smiling and making sure their guests have everything they need. For us…our time there was too short but nevertheless a fantastic stay. Thank you everyone for your care , hospitality and helpful service. We loved our stay with you
