ChileGreat location, a short drive to the central part of town. Our room had a lake view, which you can enjoy from a covered and heated balcony, which gives it a plus if you go in winter. The room itself was really comfortable and every detail was well thought out. The spa pool was divine and the place was an oasis to relax. I'll definitely stay there again.

I stayed at multiple cabins during a roadtrip through New Zealand. The cabin from this resort was the best equipped: TV, fridge, microwave, etc. The beds were super comfortable and the cabin spotless clean. The shared kitchen, bathrooms and laundry were clean as well and well equipped. At the same time the price was competitive. The spa (open air swimming pool with hot(!) water) is just few hundred meters walk away. If I would visit Taupo again, I would stay again at this resort.

This Motel was one of the best I have ever stayed in. It is absolutely spotless has everything that you would need plus more.
Spacious unit with lovely views across the lake. The host was very helpful and friendly and made me feel welcome straight away on arrival. The atmosphere of this motel is relaxed and inviting. The private plunge pool was a bonus and again was spotless. In all it shows that the owners care. Highly recommend.

From our motel room we could see the lake and the mountains. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and the setup for the hot bath, toilet and bathroom, and kitchenette was bang on. We were able to have a hot natural water bath. There was a hot swimming pool available. With the set-up of the motel, all guests' cars were parked in the middle of the compound, so it felt very safe.

When we arrived the pool was closed nothing was given to make up for this inconvenience and waste of our money. We had to just accept it. There was not enough time to enjoy the facilities for the time we stayed. The room wasn't cleaned properly and the shower pressure was so hard that my toddler couldn't shower safely

Lots of places to see and it didn't have to cost a fortune. Many free bushwalks and beautiful scenery.
Many places to eat to suit all budgets and it was easy to get around.
The lake is magnificent with surrounding mountains and it didn't feel busy or rushed as cities do.

It has changed so much since my holiday years here i50 years...
It has changed so much since my holiday years here i50 years ago. We were here for a 70th birthday, a great catch up with all the whānau i stayed with during the 8 years I came here during Xmas holidays. It is still a beautiful town, seeing men and boys fishing in the magnificence of Tongariro awa bought back so many memories of all the whānau that have passed on. The eateries catered for every preference, highly recommended Turangi as a destination.

Kurutau is a beautiful very peaceful with amazing local and friendly people. We went on the river run fantastic and then a swim in the Lake. The weather is fresh, crisp nice and chill in the evening. My daughter's bach was right on top of Omori breathtaking view of the Lake and we could walk down for a swim.
I would highly recommend Kurutau to families, friends and to anyone doing a road trip around New Zealand.

Would stay at this place again but they need to give better instructions to get in the gate as the code doesn’t work. Don’t tell you that! Also doesn’t tell you no visitors allowed on the site but says that on the info sheet inside. Like you go to see family but they can’t stop in for a cuppa - bit rough!

Awesome place any time of year.
Awesome place any time of year. Always super things to do and see. Only thing for our stay that let our time down was two of the popular restaurants having not so welcoming front of house. Below par food and service was very lacking. In house Drinks extremely expensive with cock tails so large no alcohol and only fizzy and ice. 👎

Kinloch is a beautiful town, the trees and gardens are such a bonus. It is a well maintained place. Very easy to get around with many great walking areas. The main drawback is a lack of facilities such as restaurants or cafes. There is one store which stocks basic essentials and you can get fish and chips there. On the plus side, a village centre is under construction which is due to be completed end of this year, which will make Kinloch an even more attractive place to stay.

It is a great summer location, bit chilly in winter though. Has great dining precinct close to lake edge and very busy shopping areas. Well serviced with gas stations and supermarkets and has expanded a lot since we were last here.

Turangi is a hidden gem, if you haven't stayed there before and explored the natural beauty you are missing out. Hong Kong Chinese Takeaways always provides the best Fish and Chips. Tokaanu Hot Pools are also a must.
