A very convenient spot to stay to explore the great nature...
A very convenient spot to stay to explore the great nature opportunities this area has. A must ( apart from the red caravan at Port Jackson) is to do the road down the Cascade. Take it slow and be blown away with what nature will deliver.

This is a great base for hiking Aspiring National Park.
This is a great base for hiking Aspiring National Park. It is worth hunting out the less popular tracks such as Juday Track and Sugarloaf Pass as wellas the popular multi-day hikes: Greenstone, Caples, Routeburn and Rees- Dart, all of which are great but busy.

Furnishings beautifully done but many basic things missing usually found in most motels … no TV, no microwave, and extremely limited kitchen utensils. There isn’t even a bread knife! As local cafes are often closed during some of the year it’s pretty impossible to try and cook a dinner with just an air fryer….which didn’t even have any instructions. At least with a microwave it’s easier to heat or cook basic food. There’s nowhere to hang any clothes…. not even any hooks on the wall. We arrived on a very wet day and nowhere to hang wet raincoats. A hook to hang up the tea towel would also be a good idea.
I would hesitate to recommend this accommodation in spite of the lovely furnishings which is a shame.

Haast is a quiet little town with not much to offer but it does have a beach. If you want loud & busy then it wont suit you. It's quiet, & relaxed. If I could spend a few days there with a good book & a charcuterie board, that would be perfect. No real eating places nearby so BYO food & drink.

Glenorchy is out of this world. Stunning.
Glenorchy is out of this world. Stunning. The road trip there is overwhelming and there are so many fabulous hikes. The wee village has a great hotel with really nice food and vegetarian friendly, same with Mrs Woolly's General Store and good coffee.

The walk through the bush is worth the effort with easy graded pathways. The shared bathroom and kitchen facilities are clean and meet the needs of travelling through this area. The shop doesn't have many grocery items so ensure you have adequate with you.

Interesting little town (village), with a pub having the hard antler bar. Our midday meal there was good. We did not explore the town.
The Heartland Hotel, where we stayed overnight, is bit out of town, and is a self-contained pub/motel.

Small town. Great general store.
Small town. Great general store. Cafe kitchens dont open till 12 so its just coffee n cabinet food till then.
Epic views and good walks to do.
Ate at Mr Glen's Taphouse - great coffee and cabinet food.
Recommend walk around boardwalk and lagoon.
Need a 4WD if going to Paradise - river crossings.

Good garden Views but no checkin assistance spent about 30 min trying to find the bungalow no offer to assist Roast lamb was good.
Poor Insulation heating provided would not offer warmth in cold/snow conditions
