I didn’t know all the details before I arrived, but was really happy to leave my car down the trail, hike up to my cabin with what I needed, and enjoy the peace, and the beautiful view. It’s like “glamping,” as there’s no TV or WiFi, but the bathroom and shower are clean and great, the little ea station is fully stocked, and there’s everything you’d need or want to enjoy the time there.

The staff was SO accommodating!
We needed to leave very early before breakfast opened and they let us go into the breakfast room to grab some food even before it opened. We asked if they would store our bags for a couple days after we left and they were so happy to. On the way back we were late retrieving our bags (after hours) and they went out of their way to make it possible for us to get them quite late even after the staff had gone home. So communicative and generous. Would absolutely stay again!
Also very short (2-3 min) walk to a great dinner restaurant, which was so convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything about this hotel is excellent. The owner of this property is at the reception and is a super friendly and helpful lad. We had reserved 1 one-bedroom apartment and 2 studio units and the owner was kind enough to upgrade all of our rooms to one-bedroom units free of charge. Highly recommended place of stay in Nelson!

The view was stunning, we enjoyed the sunset from the terrace and later also from the lounge area inside. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were clean, spacious and very well equipped. The info pack with recommendations and background story of the owners gave the stay a personal touch.

Nelson is a lovely city to visit!
Nelson is a lovely city to visit! The locals are relaxed and friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming.
I used taxis to get from the airport to my motel and to travel around Nelson. The Nelson taxi drivers were incredibly warm and accommodating of my mobility aid and disability. They helped load my luggage, rollator walker, and bags without me needing to ask, and on several occasions went the extra mile by carrying my suitcase to the door when I arrived at my destination — all without the meter running. This is something I haven’t experienced in my home town or other cities.
Having a Total Mobility card was a wonderful bonus, providing 65% off fares and making it much easier to navigate an unfamiliar city. I really appreciate the Nelson taxi drivers for their kindness, patience, and assistance. It was a noticeable difference and a lovely experience.
I also enjoyed visiting the car museum with my sons. After visiting Southward Car Museum in Kāpiti on the North Island, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail, the intricate displays, and the thoughtful setup. The museum has a fantastic collection and a wonderful café, making it a great place to spend time exploring.

This place was not actually in Stoke but Richmond.
This place was not actually in Stoke but Richmond. However there is a path where you can walk to Stoke in at about 45 minutes. Richmond has many shops and supermarkets. Stoke has two supermarkets and a few shops.

Nelson is a nice little town to visit.
Nelson is a nice little town to visit. Check out the Nelson Market on Saturday mornings, great outing and lots to see and eat.
New Asia Restaurant for Chinese food was great. Didn't have time to go on any walks because of the rains...maybe next time.

Nelson has a wonderful beach, a good selection of various...
Nelson has a wonderful beach, a good selection of various levels of restaurants/cafés, access to lots of walks close to town, fun Saturday morning market, a great gallery with café/restaurant attached. Also lots of slightly further afield destinations to visit eg Abel Tasman National Park.
The town centre is compact and easy to walk around , there is a regular bus to the airport and buses to the beach area.
