"We just loved our 5-night stay at this charming location with such a welcoming hostess. Each apartment has a different decor, so beautifully executed! We were in the Romantic room and it was indeed that! The bathroom was excellent, lots of hot water with a rain shower as well as a pummel. The kitchen had everything we needed, even a mini dishwasher. We ate in some evenings, but there were so many good restaurants all around us. We particularly liked the A do Pinto restaurant where we enjoyed arroz con mariscos, but try their catalpana. They are famous for it. Great location with lots to do all around Faro, and so close to other places like Tavira and Largos. I strongly recommend it!"

Everything was EXCELLENT! The whole resort is in a gorgeous location of a petit fishing village. There's a charming promenade by the water, lots of restaurants nearby. At the resort you have a free access to the indoor & outdoor pool, jacuzzi and 2 diferentes saunas and there's a lot of activities in the high season, would recommend for families with kids. Room was spacious and well equipped, very comfy bed. Very nice and helpful people at the reception. Can't wait to come back!

There isn't a whole lot to see in Faro.

There isn't a whole lot to see in Faro. We stayed here because there were a couple of trips (bird-watching and dolphin-watching) that we joined from Faro harbor. The bird-watching trip (with Eco Boat tours) was enjoyable, the dolphin watching trip (with Ocean Vibes) was quite disappointing.

Great town lots to see and do, great places to eat for all budgets, a must see town if visiting East Algarve. Great Tuk Tuk or town train to get around and see the sights, lots going off in the centre park, music, crafts, food stalls. Wonderful restaurants for all tastes, local cuisine, Indian, Thai and the famous Black Anchor Irish bar.

We visit Olhao many times in the year. We love the location, the restaurants and the people. We highly recommend the Mosse restaurant. They small village is easily navigated on foot and the boat to the islands just completes the stay.

What I liked: Cabanas de Tavira is a beautiful, peaceful, and family-friendly place. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, and the sea water is not as cold as in other parts of Portugal. It is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday. What could be better: There is not much nightlife or entertainment in the evening, so it may feel a little too quiet for people looking for a more lively destination.

Quinta do Lago is stunning.

Quinta do Lago is stunning. From pavement tiles to leaves on trees, the whole place feels perfectly curated whilst nature lends a hefty hand. There are plenty of scenic walks, with several restaurants and bars within walking distance too. However if you want more from your trip, I would recommend hiring a car. Ubers are aplenty but costs can rack up compared to car hire which is very reasonable as public transport is severely lacking in the area. Plus a car allows you to fully experience the surroundings and perhaps visit places you can’t on foot. QDL is a must visit if travelling to the Algarve.

Nothing special, but they have a great internal beach in which you can swim like in a lake and the water was very calm and warm in end of May. Mind the fact that in that early season an umbrella and two sunbeds are charged 20 euro while in Altura at the same time totally for free.

Need a car!

Need a car! Our main interest was the beach which is great so didn't really want to travel around. Vale de Lobo itself has no interest . A lot of building going on obviously for foreign investors. If you want to experience the real flavour of Portugal , this isn't the place. As a beach holiday with kids , that is fine. Food is repetitive and ordinary. People are friendly, ubers are cheap. The beach side restaurants have nice settings & views.

As a non driver it was good to have station, shop etc relatively close (20 min walk) Easy to get around on foot and by bicycle. Clean and friendly I shopped there but didn't eat out. The main draw for me was Cacela Velha and Fábrica being nearby (30-40 minute walk dependent on tide)

The apartment is located in the small town of Vila Nova de Cacela, not Manta Rota. It is not a beach location. But the fortress of Cacela is worth visiting. There are plenty of cafés and groceries in the area. And wonderful ceramic shops on the N 125!

An amazing place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet, tidy small town. The beach is fantastic and very close—just a 2‑minute drive or about a 10‑minute walk. There’s also a charming little train you can take to the beach, which is especially attractive for kids. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant/café across the street from the apartment. The food was really disappointing—we ordered spaghetti bolognese and received plain, unsalted pasta with just a tablespoon of meat on top and no sauce at all. It wasn’t worth even one euro. It’s much better to eat in the town centre or head to Tavira, where there are plenty of great restaurant options. There’s a lovely gift shop near the river where the owner makes all the ceramic gifts by hand. His work is absolutely beautiful, and it’s definitely a must‑visit. We also discovered an excellent restaurant in Tavira called Zavage—the food was exceptional, and I honestly had the best burger of my life there. Overall, I would definitely choose Santa Luzia again for a future stay.
