I liked everything! This is a brand new hotel in Castelo de Vide with great amenities: walking distance to town, safe off-site parking, amazing breakfast and friendly personnel - especially Miguel who was warm and welcoming when we arrived in town. He suggested places to visit and places to eat. Obrigada Miguel! Our modern bedroom had a view of the park. We loved 🥰 the aesthetically-pleasant decoration with a touch of simple lines yet modern ambiance. Great bed linens, dark curtains and modern lightings! In the future, we definitely will stay a second time in Casa do Parque Nature and Heritage Hotel. So many places to visit but not enough time! A great place to stay.

The hostess was incredible. Very attentive and generous. I got there when it was raining and I was a little hesitant about my car in entering the property. I ran the bell and she came up the hill and help me. I was also tired and hungry and she offered a delicious cup of hot chocolate and snacks at no cost. Very clean and neat. I would love to come back to this place with more time. It was a great experience. Great hospitality. Thank you Ivonne!!

It was a beautiful hotel. The room was well done with comfortable beds, linens, lots of wood and tile, and we had a balcony overlooking the pool and farm land. The breakfast was great with made to order eggs and breads and cheese, yogurts, etc. There were also many good restaurants in Portalegre nearby.

We went to Marvão to go to the music festival, which was amazing. However if you are not interested in classical music, Marvão and the surrounding area has lots to see. It's a picturesque medieval town. The food from North Alentejo is not quite my taste - heavy, strong tastes even the fish. But maybe we picked the wrong restaurants. The best restaurant was fago - however unfortunately the night we went there was very cold and the only available table was outside (which I knew before) but it spoiled the experience.

Such a beautiful hidden gem of a town, a little farther along the track than places like Obidos but all the more authentic for it. The surrounding nature is off the hook spectacular and there is plenty to do, especially in the warmer months when there is plenty of wild swimming to be had. One of my favourite places in the world.

Not much in the town itself except for the unique tapestry museum - a must see. And an outstanding restaurant on the far southern (?) edge of town. There are easy excursions to two nearby castle towns well worth seeing.

Marvao was very picturesque, our vacation rental was the prettiest little property with lost of outdoor sitting areas, a small brook with rushing water and greenery all around, The birds, especially the nightingales were plenty and singing, and the sparrows were building their nests everywhere.

Marvao was at the end of our trip and since it was rainy and cold the day we arrived, we didn't have a chance to explore the city that day. In the morning, it was a beautiful sunny day and we walked around the city to take some pictures. Unfortunately, because of time constraints, we didn't get a chance to see the city's castle. The views from the city are stunning. The food at the restaurants was outstanding, and their olive oil was definitely the best. I would love to return to this beautiful city.

Castelo de Vide is a charming and peaceful hilltop town full of history and character. With its medieval castle, cobbled streets, and beautifully preserved Jewish quarter, it feels like stepping back in time. The views over the Alentejo hills are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. It’s the perfect destination for a quiet getaway, surrounded by nature, culture, and authentic Portuguese charm. Ideal for slow travel and those looking to unwind in a truly special place.

Portalegre is a Perfect Place because it’s in such a great zone. You can visit so many other city’s and towns from there. Especially Marvão and Castelo de Vide. And you have everything you need in portalegre. Also they have great restaurants with typical Food of Alentejo!

This area is good for many side trips.

This area is good for many side trips. I would recommend visiting Marváo in the morning; then Cascata Trail de Marvão in the afternoon with a little side trip to Espanha (while in the area). I would also suggest a visit to the Museu da Tapeçaria de Portalegre - Guy Fino and having dinner in Castelo de Vide.

Castelo de Vide is a charming ancient town with plenty to do and see, both in the town and in the surrounding countryside. The town itself is quite lively, with great cafes and restaurants offering local specialty dishes. The narrow cobbled streets run up to the castle at the top of the hill, where there is a walled medieval village. The views from here are stunning! The Jewish quarter is interesting, and the little museum at the synagogue is free to visit from Tuesdays - Sundays (closed on Mondays). The countryside around Castelo de Vide teems with ancient megalithic sites including antas, dolmens and menhirs. Nearby the menhir of Meada is one of the (if not the) oldest and tallest in the world and is well worth a visit.
