The location of the property for me was excellent -- I was travelling on business and the hotell was just walking distance away. The tram stop was also nearby, so connection to city centre excellent. The staff was very friendly and breakfast very delicious. There was also an opportunity to make myself coffee in the evening without disturbing anybody. In total the hotel was 10/10 for the money I paid.

I don't know where to start, but long story short, this hotel and the staff are absolutely exceptional. First and foremost, a word of gratitude for the Welcome Office Supervisor, Sofia. There was a minor situation that occurred during my stay, but it was swiftly resolved, and the resolution genuinely exceeded my expectations. It speaks volumes about this hotel's professional hospitality standards, and I applaud her and her team for the excellent service and hospitality. The second aspect I'd like to mention is the breakfast. Absolutely delightful, with a huge selection of cold cuts, cheeses, warm foods, granola, etc. My favourite meal is breakfast, and you will surely not be disappointed with this phenomenal buffet they have. Finally, the view from the Karlatornet suite on the 58th floor was breathtaking. I have travelled and stayed in unfamthomnable amount of hotels, but I have never seen such a beautiful scene except at this hotel. You are literally above the clouds; the closest thing to this experience is being on a plane or the skyscrapers in Dubai. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and brand as a whole. Sofia and her team are a breath of fresh air compared to most hotels whom have forgotten that the essence of a hotel is not the fancy facilities and reception, but it is the people.

The city is great with beautiful buildings and interesting museums (we did the Volvo museum, the Maritime museum and Göteborg's city museum). There is a lot to see and the city center or old town are really pleasant. There is a lot of great places to eat to, but it can easily become a little expensive. We also visited some islands in the Archipelago (Brännö, Styrsö, Donsö and Vrangö). It was really beautiful and calm, the incredible landscapes. There is not much elevation gain so it is accessible to everyone. We camp for one night on Bränno and for one on Styrsö. Be careful and always check if camping is allowed since there is a lot of protected areas ! It can also be quite windy. It is also really easy to commute with the ferries. They are included in Goteborg's transportation subscription so you don't have to pay anything if you have it (We took the 72h pass).

We were travelling over to Gothenburg so this was a great little stop over town en route. We visited the motor museum (which was actually rather good) and took a walk around the waterfront. Some nice bistros and eateries there, all you would need for a short stay. We sadly missed the broadcasting/radio museum nearby as it was closed. The town square itself is nice but there are a quite a few more modern buildings that look a little brutal. We moved on to Vadstena which was a short drive away and a fantastic place to visit. All in all Motala is a great base and to drive to lots of attractions in the surrounding areas. Thumbs up!

We did a whistle-stop tour of Trollhattan in the evenings of the 3 days we were working and on the morning of the day we travelled back. In that time we fell under the spell of the place. If you like industrial heritage and water combined with nature and clean fresh air, this is the place for you. Travelling in late may we found the temperature to be about 2 degrees C under our Lancashire temperatures for the same period. The place is spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the bridges, of which there are many, the Saab museum and the forests on the mountains were amazing, with an awesome view over the valley to the massive lake that you would think could be an ocean.

One of my favorite cities in Sweden.

One of my favorite cities in Sweden. The lock complex is super interesting and there is so much to wander around. The complex is huge! Also it is really nice to have the nature directly next to the river and thus have the historical heritage and the nature close to each other.

Very picturesque city.

Very picturesque city. Lot's of activities to do, especially on the waterfront. We couldn't go to Universeum, which apparently is a must-visit for families. I will do next time. Don't miss archipelago tours. If you buy a transport pass, 281 and 282 ferries also go to some of the archipelago's. I'd advise a visit to them and experience the life there.
