Location was great, walking distance to main train station and 2 subway stops. Night market in the area. Great shopping. Breakfast was varied, good, but quite expensive if you are a moderate eater. Very convenient though to eat in-house. Nice coffee machine in the lobby. Great system for storing luggage pre and post check-in

This hotel is completely gorgeous, the design of room is so thoughtful with beautiful mid century style wood accents, a large bathroom with a shower and bathtub, a fancy heated toilet, and delightful L’Occitane toiletries. Our room had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the cultural park and Taipei 101. Having all the great shops and the AMAZING bookstore inside the building was also so fun! And breakfast was absolutely incredible both days, from the scallop and abalone congee to the perfect smoked salmon and everything in between.

Its convenient location added to the ease of exploring the city. One standout feature for us was the daily wellness classes, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The room was well furnished and size was good for family of 4..2 adults and 2 kids age 4 and 9. hotel breakfast spread was awesome and the hotel has 2 hourly shuttle to ximen station, long San si temple which is convenient. even if you choose to walk, it's about a 10min walk to ximending. near the hotel 3min away, there's a mall with some eateries, HDL, carrefour, decathlon, mac's and Starbucks. my elderly parents really enjoyed the stay too!

Taipei has a lot to offer, the trick is finding how to access everything in a short period of time. We were there for 5 nights and only started to get familiar with the place. We visited Taipei 101, CKS Memorial, did a day trip to Ruiflen and Shifen, a couple of museums and too many shopping centres. Taiwan overall is a poor cousin to China, it appears many residents have left Taiwan and gone elsewhere. Many shops, presumably family businesses, have been shuttered up which is sad. The shopping centres have taken over and the night markets, well if you have been to one night market the rest all look the same. If you are a western person finding a restaurant that you can relate to is hard to find. Street food in markets can be challenging, look for a charcoal cooked pepper pie, they are very yummy.

I was totally surprised with Taiwan and it's a total alternative to Japan if you're looking for a more affordable experience with more english speaking locals especially the younger generation etc.

We loved Taipei but we spent 9 nights here and I thought we could have spent fewer days while spending more time in Taichung and Kaohsiung instead. In my honest opinion, 5 days is a comfortable sweet spot!
