Great communication and responsiveness from the staff, awesome location and the larger room with bedrooms was great for our family of 4. Loved the grounds, the big "backyard" area and feeling like we were in a cabin.

I have stayed here before over the past 15 years. Love the small quaint cabin feeling of this hotel. The owners wether past or present seem to carry the same ethos.

April in Michigan is not exactly great for a beach town.

April in Michigan is not exactly great for a beach town. There was nothing to do. We were in the area for an event in a nearby town so driving elsewhere was a necessity. I'm sure the summer months carry a whole different vibe.

The view was beautiful and peaceful The amazing sunsets of God's Masterpieces were incredible and picture perfect. The privacy and great accommodations of the condo made for a wonderful family bonding time and rest after a very busy season. We were there before the prime season, so it was a bit cold but we played several games and enjoyed the time to read and rest with a beautiful view.

Benzonia/Beulah are sort of hidden gems. It's not fancy.

Benzonia/Beulah are sort of hidden gems. It's not fancy. It's not Traverse City, which is only about a half hour away. What it is is a great place to use for a base camp when you're exploring all the things that Up North has to offer. Great restaurants, breweries, wineries and meaderies are all around. When you're done, you have a great place to kick back, and enjoy everything that the area offers.

The Cherry Hut had great food. Mini golf was a lot of fun. The down town had some quaint shops and also good places to eat like the Hungry Tummy, and a block away is Crystal Lake, beautiful place to swim or fish and more. Beulah is close to other towns with more lakes, shopping, dunes and more. You don't have to break the bank to find things to do.

Frankfort is a charming town right on Lake Michigan with a lovely beach--and a lighthouse! Historic preservation folks like myself will love it; there's even an old theater--in use! A number of nice restaurants of various kinds.

Lots of great out door activities.

Lots of great out door activities. You have kayaking, hiking, tubing, canoeing (Platte is great for families because it is so shallow), you can camp, you can rent boats for tubing or sailing or pontooning. Other options include going to beaches, biking the Betsie River Trail, for example, and sightseeing at Sleeping Bear or other scenic sites (Inspiration Point). The towns are very cute (Beulah, Frankfort, etc) so you can explore little towns with their restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, farmers markets, etc. The Ironfish distillery is in this area and we went there and had food and tasting with drinks. It was a nice way to spend a summer evening in their outdoor area.

The hotel and staff were wonderful.

The hotel and staff were wonderful. We couldn't ask for a nicer hotel. Our only complaint would be that the hotel was out of the way for the attractions and cost about $100 more than other hotels with closer access attractions and views of the water and mountains. So in the end, in comparison, we spent almost $300 per night here and had to drive to other locations for things to do, while we had hotels on the water or with views of the water, within the location of attractions and food, for about $200 per night... These were with our dog. If the price was the same or cheaper, we feel this would have been a great deal. Besides the price, this was a very nice, clean place to stay.

There is a convenient key box to check in, since we arrived at middle night and left in early morning. Hotel provided enough bottle water, so we did not really buy more water. Walking distance to beach so we could handout at the beach till 11 pm.

Wanted to check out Sleeping Bear Dunes while out for 2 day trip north. Empire was centrally located to all locations of interest with the local beach being an added bonus. National Park office across the street from the hotel, how perfect. Figured out the map of the park for excursions with Park Attendants help; made the trip to the park more productive and rewarding.
