Cute little motel. Owners were very friendly and bent over backwards to ensure that we were comfortable and welcome. There was a little table with a couple of chairs outside of each room which was great for sitting out and drinking wine in the evening. There was a gas station across the street which had drinks and coffee, with an actual coffee show, with espresso, within a 5-minute walk in the village.

I have stayed here before over the past 15 years. Love the small quaint cabin feeling of this hotel. The owners wether past or present seem to carry the same ethos.

Lovely little town with so much for a family to do.

Lovely little town with so much for a family to do. We ate at a fabulous restaurant called The Cherry Hut and picked up a few souvenirs as well as a cherry pie. Yes, it was delicious! We only got to stay in town for a day as we were there to attend a wedding. However, we quickly decided that we want to go back to spend more time in Benzonia and stay at the Betsie Riverside Resort.

Benzonia/Beulah are sort of hidden gems. It's not fancy.

Benzonia/Beulah are sort of hidden gems. It's not fancy. It's not Traverse City, which is only about a half hour away. What it is is a great place to use for a base camp when you're exploring all the things that Up North has to offer. Great restaurants, breweries, wineries and meaderies are all around. When you're done, you have a great place to kick back, and enjoy everything that the area offers.

Lots of great out door activities.

Lots of great out door activities. You have kayaking, hiking, tubing, canoeing (Platte is great for families because it is so shallow), you can camp, you can rent boats for tubing or sailing or pontooning. Other options include going to beaches, biking the Betsie River Trail, for example, and sightseeing at Sleeping Bear or other scenic sites (Inspiration Point). The towns are very cute (Beulah, Frankfort, etc) so you can explore little towns with their restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, farmers markets, etc. The Ironfish distillery is in this area and we went there and had food and tasting with drinks. It was a nice way to spend a summer evening in their outdoor area.

I raised my oldest child in the Benzonia area (she graduated from Benzie Academy) and my middle child for his early elementary school years, so I am a tad bit partial to the area. That being said, I enjoyed my stay and the solitude and connection to the universe and a higher consciousness that being by myself in nature brings to me. I was born and raised about 20 miles from Benzonia and I chose to make a life there for my family. I still don’t live very far away, but it is always really surreal to me how when I’m near Beulah and Benzonia, it feels like home. This little vacation where I could be alone, did so much more for me spiritually than I can actually put into words. Be with nature. It cleanses the mind, body, and spirit. I shared a picture of the tree that is covered in Evil Eyes that I found out there.
