De Hoop Nature reserve has it all: great views, great plants...
De Hoop Nature reserve has it all: great views, great plants, great antelope and birds. The accommodation is somewhat out of our budget but we used the winter discount and it was such a priviledge to be there.

A pleasant town, we had an excellent meal at the Anchorage restaurant.
Small shops but well stocked, friendly and Professional service.
The Witsand market definitely worth a visit. served proper roosterkoek.

Location is fantastic given that you have a high clearance...
Location is fantastic given that you have a high clearance vehicle. The house feels old and slightly tired. Only one bathroom between eight people can be uncomfortable especially if it is a group of friends instead of a close family. Jetty and braai facilities are excellent.

It is worth your while to visit De Hoop.
It is worth your while to visit De Hoop. We saw a lot of animals but unfortunately no whales due to the wind. The beach is amazing as is the restaurant by the beach. The long dirt road is a bit of a challenge.

This was a first time visiting and I will definitely be back...
This was a first time visiting and I will definitely be back. The locals were super friendly and the beach section was clean. Soft sand and quiet at night. If you feel the need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and the fast pace of living… Absolutely make your way to Witsand to come and unwind and relax. There is one cafe/shop called Nellie’s winkel and a few restaurants. The Anchorage restaurant and the Spasie on Breede were very reasonably priced and the food served were delicious. All the locals and staff were super friendly. I highly recommend visiting Witsand for a good break away. It was a very quiet little town when I made my trip and access to the beach was walking distance easy. Pet friendly and all that you need to get away. I tried the pizza at Spasie on Breede and they are holding the number 1 spot. We tried their waffles and also a win for Spasie on Breede. The Anchorage restaurant promotes keeping the beach clean by encouraging guest to take a bucket, fill it with trash from the beach and bring it back for a cup of coffee. I thought that was a genius idea.

It's an absolute beaut to stay on the River.
It's an absolute beaut to stay on the River.
Indoor braai and the walks down to the riverside was awesome.
Ample space.
The Double Bunks make up for more space for more people which is great.
The cupboards was dirty
And the fridge had a smell
All in all very nice stay.
The Bees came out the Sunday but scary though just glad it was after we had a blast there.

Beautiful reserve with wildlife and stunning scenery.
Beautiful reserve with wildlife and stunning scenery. Some nice walks and routes for mountain biking. Beaches are great to look at but didn’t look safe for swimming. Range of accommodation options and an excellent restaurant.

Lagoon view was excellent....Restaurant a bit expensive....bed had bedbugs, but not major problem as owner must just fumigate the bed...will definitely visit again..already promote the lodge to colleagues and family...must definitely have more affordable restaurants....staff was very friendly and helpful especially front desk personnel....
