Amazing property by the lake, loved the view

If we could add a sixth star just for Emma, one of the staff members at this hotel, we would. She was a rock star! In fact, all of the charming staff at this inn, including Manuel, Jennifer and Daniel, make it a lodging with a beautiful view and big heart! We stayed in Silver Howe and loved the view of Wordsworth's grounds and the sheep. The location right next to a bus stop, the center of Grasmere and hiking trails allowed us to have our entire vacation without a car. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast every morning was incredible! It had a continental component (yogurt, coffee, pastry and more) AND a hot plate (sausage, hash browns, eggs and more), all included in the price of our room. At night, we loved the hotel bar and enjoyed sharing stories with the staff and other visitors, as well as seeing the amazing dogs of some of the guests. We will definitely come back.

Old traditional building inside and out, open fires, old paintings, and wooden interior,in stunning location, kept very clean, easy to get from accommodation too pub/restaurant area.

Beautiful, gracious inn with lovely interior spaces that makes you want to stay for a full week. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable with lovely ambience. Several sitting rooms and spaces afford stunning views and comfortable places to rest when not exploring the Lake District. Staff was friendly and attentively helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Lovely manor house in the town of Ambleside- made us feel like royalty- the hosts Jill and Andrew were attentive and easy to talk too- they recommended several places to visit in the area which we added to our daily outings- you will also love Ambleside itself, walking distance from the house with a lively high street , plenty of restaurant choices and darling shops and pubs We liked it so much more than Windermere, that was just down the road Oh and full English breakfast and other choices was superb! A great start to our day

Perfect location. Small but lovely room with everything we needed, comfy bed, nice bathroom etc. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. Friendly service. We will come again.

Very clean and the room was massive. Very friendly staff who couldn't do more to help. The continental breakfast was very fresh and there was a huge amount to choose from.

Get hosts, great breakfast and get location. The room was clean and well stocked with towels, toiletries etc. Great stay!

Andy was a great host. Everyday at breakfast it was important to connect with Andy and get some ideas for our day's schedule. It was nice to form a trusting bond to start the day off well at a good, solid English breakfast. The hotel had parking because it is hard to find car park for a long stay. The location was perfect because it was a close walk to the Roman site and the boat dock as well as the bus station and the city. It was a friendly place with a very convenient location.

Lovely quiet hotel & not far from Ambelside. Breakfast was fantastic & plenty of selection. The Bar looked great & the food smelled very nice but sadly I didn't try any. I would defo recommend a stay here, plenty of coffee etc in the room & the bathroom had plenty of soaps, towels etc. They also let me leave my car there after I checked out & looked after my car keys. A very enjoyable stay.

The location is amazing and the views are hard to beat. The quiet and nice hotel really lets you escape and just take a breath. The staff are helpful and nice. The rooms are spacious. The bar and restaurant really help you stay put and enjoy the stay.

The Staff are so Friendly. The room was a good size at the front. Loved the pool area and outside Jacuzzi which I only just learned was hot!!! Food Amazing. Love Manuel! He rec my haddock brekkie and was perfect. Comfy lounge bar.Booked again for December!!!

The room was spotless and the beds were really comfortable. The grounds surrounding the hotel were lovely and well kept. There was plenty of parking. The food for dinner service was delicious though perhaps the starters and desserts could have been slightly cheaper. All the staff were helpful, friendly and polite.

Definitely a highlight of our trip. Such a gorgeous place; felt like we were in an episode of Downton Abbey or something. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake, and even though it was cold and rainy, the hotel was cosy, warm and inviting, and set up perfectly for the Christmas period. Lovely staff who made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay there again.
