Everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. Our guide was extremely friendly and kind he sure did make our experience even better.

Highly recommend for true nature lovers! This hostel is within walking distance of Semuc Champey & sits right on the river. We cooled off in the river as soon as we arrived, then spent some time relaxing in the warm pool before enjoying one of the most delicious dinners I had in all of Guatemala. The rooms are warm during the day, but they cool off at night & falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle & wildlife was one of my favorite parts of the experience. It felt like being immersed in nature rather than staying at a typical hotel. The staff was incredibly kind & helpful, especially Kelly, who went above and beyond by helping us arrange a private transfer to Chichicastenango. I’m genuinely surprised by some of the negative reviews. For the price, this place offers an amazing experience. If you’re looking for luxury amenities & air conditioning, this probably isn’t the right fit. But if you’re low-maintenance, appreciate nature & want an affordable, authentic jungle experience close to Semuc Champey, this place is an absolute gem. I would happily stay here again!

Everything was wonderful. My room (a double room in a cabin of two rooms, with shared bath) was clean and quiet, at the top of a hill looking down toward the restaurant/bar, pools and river. The shared bath was clean but a bit small, and a bit of a walk from the cabin. The restaurant/bar/lounge area was spacious, clean and very pleasant. The pools were also clean and the perfect temperature. The best part was the staff; they were attentive, friendly and professional. Thank you, Sonia, Yadira, Cristian, Lionel, Dominga. Berta, and everyone else that made me feel so welcome!

When I first walked in, the Carolina and Salomon greeted me with a smile and a welcome drink. From that moment, I always felt like the staff were available and enthusiastic about helping in any way. The food was INCREDIBLE! They make almost everything from scratch and it shows in the presentation and quality. The bartenders, José, Emerson, and Sosa were so friendly and could make any drink (given the liquor was available). Manon and Leah ran activities every night, like karaoke, trivia, beer pong, and some amazing unique games I've never played at other hostels. The common areas are comfortable and there are so many places to hang out and relax. The pool is awesome and the poolside bar is a nice touch. From the hostel it's easy to get out into nature, and Erick knows about 30 unforgettable hiking trails that he'll take you out on. This hostel just offers the complete experience.

Really lovely place close to Semuc Champey. Food is good and affordable and the staff is really helpful and kind. They were really helpful to get me transport options to Xela and even woke up at 5AM to make sure I'd catch the bus to Coban.

This resort type hotel is clean and confortable on the suite side and offers many activities

The environment is very relaxing. The cocoa tour in the backyard was great, and the experience of making our own chocolat.

If you're after a budget place to stay I couldn't recommend Casa Mary enough. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you need. Mary is lovely! There is a small shop and restaurant there and the food is great. We did the tour to the caves and Semuc Champey with David and it was so so much fun! Mary helped us book our shuttle to leave and they drove us into town in the tuk tuk, waiting to make sure we got the right bus. I wish we could have extended our stay and hope we can come back one day!

Amazing staff, they go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. They are all polite and hard workers, food is also great. Location in the middle of the forest is a plus and the huts style lodge make you feel lost in nature, although is very comfortable. Facilities are great, with a stunning pool and a restaurant/chill out/games area to hang out with others. Visiting Semuc Champey was incredible. They organize tours to take you there but also shuttle to other cities in Guatemala so they have you covered!

Everything. Super clean. Water was so hot that we had to take breaks from shower hehe. Food was excellent. Coffee was great. Service was great! Laurie is super sweet and made sure we were well taken care of. Great location. And very accommodating. Would love to come back here and stay again

We truly loved our stay at the Mountain Nest! The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the peaceful, secluded setting made for an unforgettable experience. While the owners were out of town during our visit, Carlos stepped in and did an outstanding job taking care of everything in their absence. Both Carlos and the owners maintained excellent communication, ensuring all our needs were met promptly. A special highlight was the delicious meals prepared daily by Chona, Carlos’s wife. Both breakfast and dinner were home-cooked and absolutely delightful—a real treat that made our stay even more special. Getting to the cabin is an adventure in itself, but well worth it! Nestled in a charming indigenous village surrounded by the woods, the location offers a unique cultural experience. Watching the locals walk by to their homes added an authentic touch to our stay. If you’re looking for stunning views, warm hospitality, and a one-of-a-kind cultural experience, we highly recommend Mountain Nest. It’s a true hidden gem!

We chose this hotel because it’s where the overnight bus from Lake Atitlan would drop us off. So thankful for our decision - it was so convenient and they even let us check in when we arrived about 8am so that we could catch more sleep! The bedroom was very comfortable and the AC worked a treat. The breakfast options and coffee was pretty good too. And the staff were very nice. And the location also made our onward journey to Flores very simple too! What more could you ask for!

The boys Joshua and Daniel were very kind and helpful. The view is very nice, its high up so you can see the mountains from your room. They have a well stocked bar/social area where some locals were watching soccer.

Nice view of river. Restaurant. Free filtered water on request. Staff carried my heavy duffle bag to and from my uphill room for me. Free transport to there from Languin and back to Languin with booking shuttle through them for Antigua. Could pay by cc.
