VERY nice host! Building is very clean and new. Great pride of ownership shows with little details and the pretty flower beds in the courtyard. Beautiful sunrise over the water and town! Close to the airport but planes fly off in the other direction (90 degrees offset) so you can see them if you like but not hear them.

We loved everything about this home. The rooms were spacious, and clean. The back porch was very roomy and comfortable to unwind from the day of exploring. The host and her family were very inviting and helpful with whatever we needed. She gave us ideas on what to see, how to get there and the best restaurants. We visited during Easter holiday, so most places were closed that day. She invited us to join her and her family for Easter supper, which we stayed and talked for several hours before heading out. We couldn't asked for a better stay.

The flat was perfectly clean!! Everything that we needed was there, from the kitchen to the bathroom. A basic breakfast was available as well as many types of coffee. A little tip is to have a few teabags as well, very welcome in the cold nights.
For us the location was perfect as it was easy to get in and out of town for our excursions to places around Messini.
Also right across there is an empty plot where you can park the car

I had a wonderful stay at this Appartment. The hosts were extremely friendly and always present if anything was needed. They made me feel very welcome and were truly warm people. Their daughters were absolutely the sweetest – such a lovely family atmosphere.
The apartment was well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It was always cool inside, which was especially appreciated during the warmer days, and the entire property was spotless and very well maintained.
I would absolutely recommend this place and would love to come back again!

Good beaches.
Good beaches. Bars, restaurants, parking, showers, restrooms all available, and reasonably priced (or free). Athens is about 2,5-3 hours drive, Voidokilia is about 1,5 hours. The airport is small, but OK. Visit Kastraki restaurant if you can.

Nice little town with a beautiful central square with a modern playground and a lot of nice cafes and restaurants around it. Very close to the beautiful Bouka beach. It is in the ideal location for many excursions in the surrounding area, all the main tourist attractions are within 45-60 mins slow drive

The sea here was incredibly warm.
The sea here was incredibly warm. The sea front is long and has many restaurants behind the beach. Most loungers and umbrellas were free as long as you purchased food and/or drink. The beach is a mix of sand and small stones and the sea drop off not too steep.
The historic area is quite a long walk from the front. Buses are good and cheap. There was no sign of a timetable and maybe we were lucky but I don't think we ever waited more than 15 minutes for one. Hotels with a pool seem few but the Hotel Elite at the eastern end of the beachfront had a huge, absolutely stunning pool. Nice and deep if you like to dive in. As it is for the beach, the sunbeds and umbrellas are free to use if you buy drink and/or food. The number 1 bus gets you there. That same bus goes close to Hotel Aso and onwards to the historic district on its return journey.
Kalamata is a great location for visiting the peninsulars either side. I'd especially recommend visiting Stoupa in the east and in the west the Polilimnio waterfalls, Pilos (aka Pylos) and Methoni.

The beach, of course, and the fact that we were staying...
The beach, of course, and the fact that we were staying right across from the beach. But the bus service was excellent, getting us up into the old town and, when we left, back to the bus station. Kalamata seems large and sprawling but very much alive, with plenty to do and see. Much history. Of course, Kalamata is the starting station for so many special places along the coast in both directions.
