Staff is amazing and made up for some of the things that made it less desirable. There is only one bathroom and the sink water wouldn’t get hot, but it’s an old house so I understand. It was really nice that towels were offered freely. But I liked that the rooms were only 4 beds (2 bunks) and WiFi was free. There were a couple different places to plug in a charger. It was nice that breakfast and kitchen access were free, as well as a sitting room with a TV. Everything was clean. I felt safe, I loved that there is a no tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol. I have had bad experiences in the past with drunk men at hostels. Location is perfect, except I wasn’t sure I was at the right place when I arrived. The neighborhood isn’t super well lit and felt a little scared walking to the hostel.

The location is fantastic, absolutely spotless hotel , my room was fantastic. It was big and had a large private balcony with a gorgeous view of the river and all of the city , the hand soap /shampoo had such a nice smell, the bed was very comfortable and the pillows you had a choice of a soft one or a firm one , lots of tea and coffee and more milk then usually given, 3 toilet papers given . Despite being in a busy location it felt very quiet , plenty of plug sockets and even usb ports

Waterford is a lovely city with a beautiful quayside along the river suir, it is a historic city with a number of great museums and of course the iconic Reginald's tower and tower clock. It has a beautiful shopping street/area and many lovely pubs where music is played far too loud ! Unlike many counties it has a wonderful greenway from waterford to dungarvan which was very busy with mostly cyclists but also some walkers . It has a good bus and train connect and the waterford people are it's crowning glory ! Over the past quarter of a century waterford has reinvented itself into a lovely tourist city which i will be revisiting soon .

Moorings by the Sea is an exceptional choice for a family holiday! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our wonderful hostess, who kindly informed us in advance about upcoming roadworks that would limit access to the property. This thoughtful communication was greatly appreciated and made our arrival smooth and stress-free. The house itself is immaculate and well-maintained, with incredibly comfortable beds that ensured we had restful nights. The location is simply perfect—just a 20-minute walk to the vibrant Tramore strip and a mere 10 minutes to the town center. Plus, having a bus stop right outside the door made exploring Waterford city a breeze, with buses running every 30 minutes. Overall, I would give Moorings by the Sea a well-deserved 5-star rating! It’s an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy a relaxing and convenient getaway. Highly recommended!

It's quite central and a good location to get to other parts of Wexford and Waterford. Pretty location by the sea with good accommodation such as the Marsh Mere Lodge and the Kings Head pub providing a good evening meal. Visiting The Hook and it's famous lighthouse, Booley Bay and other stopping off sites is a very pleasant drive from Arthurstown.

Dunmore East is always a win.

Dunmore East is always a win. Start with a pint or two in Powers. The Spinnaker is fab for food as is the restaurants in The Haven and The Strand Inn. You won't be let down. Accommodation options in The Strand Inn are very good because you have options to suit your budget. The Haven Hotel is also lovely. Lots to do with the sea activities, cliff walk and the forest walk. I love being there. It's my happy space for a peaceful retreat or a romantic getaway.

Lovely beach with a couple of good gastro pubs.

Lovely beach with a couple of good gastro pubs. Beach is lovely but parking is very restricted when busy. The local shop is small and only caters for basics. If you are in self catering you will need to buy food in advance.

Location perfect.

Location perfect. Accommodation could not have been better had everything we needed. Spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. We were visiting family in Waterford so a lot of our time was spent with them and as they have a busy household it was so nice to go back to the comfort of the lodge to relax.

Beautiful, quiet area.

Beautiful, quiet area. Perfect, if you want to stay close enough to all holiday attractions, but not in the center, so you can enjoy peace & quiet in the evening. So much to do around, with Hook Head Lighthouse, Tramore, Waterford and surrounding areas. Ballyhack Ferry is so cool and efficient at the same time. We will be coming back there :)

Lovely town placed by the sea. Beautiful beach. Very nice Doneraile walk by the clifs. In future we will go there again. There is a fun park by the beach, good for family visit. You can find many cafe and small bars, places where serving fish and chips, churros etc or Aldi stor very near to the beach. There is a big free car park and toilets by the beach. In the city there is fabulous Japanese garden very worth to see it, good place for relaxing walk.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay in The Haven Hotel, staff are excellent, especially Margaret, Hannah & Jasmine. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings. The bar area & dining rooms are full of quirky paraphernalia that enhance your stay. Dunmore East was coming to the end of its summer season so most places closed but enough still open to appreciate it's charming atmosphere. Nice walks up past the harbour & on to the cliff walk..on way back Power's Bar has the best Gunness in Dunmore East. The Strand Inn is perfectly located right on the beach, lovely terrace to soak in the beautiful view,we stopped by on our first day for a drink as it wasn't busy & lots of seating available on the Terrace in the sunshine, unfortunately the young guy at the bar was so rude, no greeting apart from a surly "what do you want" no thank you. It put us off having our lunch here. We did come back the following night after a walk and as he wasn't serving at the bar, we decided to stay, much more pleasant ladies working that night, sat on the Terrace with the Moon bright & the waves crashing over the sea wall! Dunmore East is a little hilly with lots of steps down to the coves so be mindfull of this for anyone with disability issues. It's a special spot, romantic at night. A gentle quite place to rest in early September.
