Proximity to the airport with shuttle service. We got there Thanksgiving evening and the bar was open and the food was delish. I dont recall the bartenders name, he was there the last time we came but he gave excellent service.

I was there mainly for Anime Impulse. If you're there for a convention then it's perfect. If you're there for like a con, game day or an event at the stadium or Great America, there's not much else going on.

San Jose has a lot to explore and easy links to San Francisco for Day Trips {Light Rail and CalTrain options mean you are not reliant on Uber and Waymo for getting around or between the cities}.
Central San Jose has a wide variety of Restaurants, Art Museums, activities for Kids, pleasure walks such as at the Japanese Gardens.
A couple must visit Restaurants in the San Pedro Market area would be "Must Be Thai and Bar," food was delicious and is somewhere I would happily revisit along with "The Farmers Union." Both are good for meals with more than 1 person.
For lunches I would recommend "City Bagels" on West Santa Clara Street for something Grab and Go or Sit and Eat as seating is available, as well as "Poppy and Claro" in the square of the San Jose Art Museum.
Travelling around the city you can do by walking, by tram or street car on the Blue and Green Lines, Buses, Ride Hails with Uber and Waymo, however due to the nature of the city depending on your Hotel location you may find getting into a location where you have access to the some of these to take you right into a central location may be a walk so plan ahead.
Overall, San Jose have a decent amount of activities and a good variety of places to eat, and is a very walkable and easy to get around place to visit.

“I like Milpitas for its location and convenience. It’s right by 680, 880, and BART, so it’s easy to get to San Jose, Fremont, or other parts of the Bay, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants like the Great Mall and Milpitas Square.”
Milpitas feels pretty safe and family‑oriented, with good parks, hiking nearby, and a really diverse community and food scene. The only downside is the cost of living, but overall I think it’s a nice place.”

We were returning ex-pats so knew the area well. Nice area, lots of places to shop and eat. More homeless people then we remember. Glad we rented a car so we could visit family in Santa Cruz many times during our stay. Did so much thrift shopping and garage sales that we had to buy an extra suitcase to bring all the treasure home.

Sunnyvale is a quiet suburb, a lot of apartments and working people. There isn't much to do, there are some stores within walking distance like Safeway, Ross and Starbucks. It is a safe place to walk around.

Santa Clara is home to Apple and many other tech companies. There were many Asian restaurants, as well as other types. We found everything to be very very expensive. A simple udon / tempura cafeteria type restaurant with no alcohol, and one shared beverage was $48!
Definitely need a car to get around but we were also very impressed with the extensive bike paths clearly marked along all streets. It was also so clean with lovely trees and vegetation everywhere.
We loved the Cupertino area. Lots of great eating options, although prices were very high.

I learned Never to stay in this hotel or any Extended America hotel. I reserved 2 weeks and paid ~$1,400 being a regular customer. I requested 1 week and check-out should 12/2/25 after I saw how bad the room I was given, I was too tired to look for another hotel after discovering this after ~8pm. Instead the manager did not update the change, I had to stay the whole 2 weeks 11/25/25- 12/9/25.

If Breakfasts included in the price is an important factor, do not choose this hotel. Honestly it was just like any average hotel. It was within close driving distance to restaurants. You will also pay an additional $15 each day for parking. When a hotel lists breakfast included and you don't get it, either Booking.com has the problem or the hotel does. It became our problem at any rate. In either case we did not get one, drove down the street and paid $68 at an ordinary Waffle house for eggs, bacon and waffles.
$300 overnight stay is expensive... period.
