Kontani-san is the most caring host we met on our 3 week adventure in Japan and the house has an unforgettable character! He gave us plenty of local recommendations on where to eat and where to go (also created custom made itinerary for us) and was always open for our questions. Thanks to him we were able to get to know Japanese culture a little deeper. We had lovely tastings with him in the sake bar which is also located in the house and will never forget this stay!

It was a traditional Japanese house - the whole house, not a room in a house. Easily room for 5-6 people. There were 2 of us. Our host, Yumiko, was wonderfully attentive. She coordinated with us in advance, picked us up at the train station, and even dropped us off again at the end of our stay. She sent us a note the morning after our first night, just to check in.

Located in Kanazawa and with Kanazawa Castle reachable within 1.2 miles, Saik has express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi throughout the property and a shared lounge.

The location is walking distance to the temple district, samurai district, the smaller of two geisha districts, and Katamachi (which is the heart of the city. It was a contactless check-in through video chat. The instructions on how to check in/out were very clear. Breakfast is available for a small fee- just enough to get you started for the day. Room was traditional Japanese, but upgraded with nice amenities. Futons were comfy and came with thick, cozy blankets. It was perfect for us:)
