Cheap hotels in Rarotonga

10 out of 10. Amazing place next to sea. All Indonesian staff are friendly, supportive and kind. They arranged pick up from RAR airport for nominal fee but if running public buses are available since property is on ring road. A 24 hours open supermarket only 10 minutes walk away. I highly recommend KiiKii motel.

An ideal and budget friendly accommodation option at (what can be) very expensive Rarotonga. This was independent and old school type accommodation in a spotlessly clean and well appointed cabin. We had an excellent week although we only used the cabin for sleeping, washing clothes, and a place to park the car. This is an excellent choice for anyone wanting independent accommodation and not being cooped up in a large scale resort. PS Our photos are real, taken on a Google Pixel phone.

Absolutely loved the location, tucked away in a residential area with taro farm and dirt roads, a few minutes walk from a fabulous beach and a couple of food stores. If you rent a car and arrive at night, make sure you know where you are going as there are minimal street lights and signage. Daytime is much easier. If you get dropped off by a taxi or shuttle, they seem to know the way precisely. Also be sure to know where the lockbox is if you arrive late at night! All the basics in the kitchen to make simple meals made it very good with a child. Loved that there is a close line undercover to hang towels, etc. after the beach. One of the few places that you will not hear any scooters or cars go by as it is well off the main road cottage is pretty far even from the owner‘s house, you will not hear another conversation or anything else, if you want peace and quiet, this is it!

Our stay was short, however, the accommodation was clean, well equipped, and comfortable. We kindly got picked up free of charge by the hosts at night time which we really appreciated as uni students on a tight budget.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt und vergeben gerne 10 von 10 Punkten! Die Unterkunft liegt ruhig in einem wunderschönen Tal – perfekt zum Entspannen. Das Häuschen ist sehr gemütlich und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt benötigt. Besonders die Küche lässt keine Wünsche offen und ist komplett eingerichtet. Wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Gastgeberin war äußerst freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Sie hat uns sogar dabei geholfen, unkompliziert einen Roller zu mieten, was unseren Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gemacht hat. Wir können die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Avarua Escape exceeded our expectations in every way. Stacey’s communication was outstanding — quick, friendly, and incredibly helpful from the moment we booked. As we were arriving on Easter Sunday evening, she kindly gave us advice on what would still be open for dinner and even helped organise food for us so we had something to eat when we arrived. That level of care was so appreciated after a long day of travel. Our unit was perfect for the two of us — spotlessly clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed, along with lots of thoughtful extra touches that made our stay even more special. The location was ideal: close enough to town for an easy walk, and very handy to the bus stop for exploring the island. The bed was cosy and comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The air conditioning was fantastic and ideal to get back to after a day out in the heat. There was plenty of parking space, the pool was fabulous, and we appreciated having access to a washing machine at no extra cost. Stacey instantly made us feel welcome. We discovered we had a lot in common and genuinely enjoyed getting to know her. Knowing we planned to self-cater, she gave us wonderful recommendations on where to shop for groceries, along with great suggestions for eateries, bars, and places to explore around the island. By the time we left, it felt less like leaving accommodation and more like saying goodbye to a new friend. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend Avarua Escape to anyone visiting Rarotonga.

The location is at the foot of the mountains and it's very peaceful.

Really central location, perfect spot hidden away and had everything we needed

This place was amazing. I wasn't sure it would live up to the pictures, but when we walked in, it felt like a perfect little beach house! We walked out onto the beach the first morning and saw rays swimming in the water! It rained quite a bit while we were there, so we spent more time indoors than we had thought we would, which was fine with us. We were so comfortable and spent a lot of time in the back of the house listening to the waves while we read. The location was close to everything we needed. I can't wait to go back again!
