If you like hiking (not climbing), Hohentauern is the right...

If you like hiking (not climbing), Hohentauern is the right place. There are some peaks to climb, but only up to 2500 metres altitude. Many streams and lakes make the hikes eventful. In winter there is a small skiing area and many routes for cross-country skiing and snowshoe hiking. Perfect place also for families with smaler kids.

Hohentauern is a gem, one of the last mohicans of those charming, quiet, relaxed alpine towns where yoi can truly enjoy the beauty of nature in peace. The slopes nearby (Ski Hohentauern) are ideal for beginners. The hotel is ran by the Lanz Family, super sweet and kind people. Kind of a no-frill hotel, but still offers everything you need. Clean rooms, yummy breakfast, one of the best wiener schnitzels we've ever had - all this with the picturesqe Lower-Tauern range as a backdrop.

Everything was on 1*, it was pleasure to be there. I highly recommend this hotel! Breakfast was really amazing, we were looking forward every night for next morning, because when we opened the door, there was prepared for us really super quality breakfast.
