Excellent experience staying at Mungo Lodge. The staff were incredible - so friendly and helpful! Food was delicious and the rooms and amenitites are great. My partner and I went in the first week of December 2025 and were practically the only guests there, which meant we got to experience the remote location in a very special way. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone who is interested in exploring Mungo National Park. Special thanks to Anju for the wonderful conversations.
I wanted an outback adventure, and I got it. The area was spectacular with views as far as the eye could see. All sorts of Australian animals were around to photograph or just observe, the accommodation was incredibly comfortable. I opted for the self guided tour for sunrise and, at sunset as I wished to capture the milky way, I felt safe within that designated area. I was driving a toyota corolla which managed the unsealed roads nicely .

The highlight of the trip was our guided tour to the Walls of China. Tanya, our indigenous guide was excellent.
Here there is a real sense of the incredibly long time and history of Australia and it's first people. Although the original lake is long gone, the sand dunes that formed an arc around the lake are slowly revealing items that are currently being carefully recorded.
A visually stunning place of eroded rock and varied coloured sands.

We liked the national park & the sunset trip to the wall of china. We ate in the Mungo Lodge dining room but this dining room needs some better decor that would encourage guests to mingle more. Everyone ate their dinner but didn't linger to chat afterwards as we felt discouraged because the fireplace was not lit. We felt that the staff wanted us out asap.We realise its hard to get staff but if it was more welcoming then I think they would get more travellers to stay at the lodge. 2 nights stay is plenty.

the customer service was superb from arrival till departure, first class. The restaurant was very good again with good food and excellent service. The tour with Steve to the walls of China was very informative and interesting. The cabin could have done with a few repairs eg fix curtains and maybe a bit more dusting in corners, yet very comfortable . Aircon effective and not noisy. Highly recommend!
Amazing location, food outstanding, restaurant staff so lovely. Great sunset tour with Steve. So much wildlife. So peaceful and relaxing. Accommodation was good too. Lovely porch to sit on and enjoy the sunset. Highly recommend!
