Worth staying at this hotel just for the breakfast - it's probably the best breakfast of any hotel I've stayed in. They had home-made yoghurt, muesli and jams, the soft boiled eggs were perfectly cooked. The room is well maintained and clean and bathroom is newly renovated, though slightly small. Good view of town. Hotel is also right next to the Friedrichsbad and Carcalla baths.

For just one night away I would recommend catching the little tourist train that does an informative circuit of the town where you can learn about the history of the town. Such a beautiful town and such a lot of interesting buildings to visit.

Baden-Baden is a beautiful destination and we are so glad we went but it's biggest attraction is probably the hiking and walking options available. It is a very expensive place to eat and drink and we spent as much in 5 days on food and drink as we had on accommodation and travelling. From a sightseeing and relaxing trip, 3 days would be more than adequate. The local bus service is exceptional. DO NOT waste your money going to the Faberge Museum. It was 40 euros to enter and for what was available it was ridiculously overpriced.

Festspiele performances were outstanding and unforgottable (Lohengrin, Passion and Mahler). Festspielhaus is huge with excellent acustic everywhere (we visited 3 performances with 3 different seating locationsi ). Friedrichsbad is fantastic. In terms of restaurants it is a pity that personnel often does not speak nor German neither English. Portions are too big everywhere. It is very difficult to find a taxi at the railway station.

With excellent and well priced public transport Baden baden...

With excellent and well priced public transport Baden baden and surrounding areas are easily travelled and enjoyed. We rambled in the day in the Black Forrest hills on well marked walking trails and then soaked in the Thermal baths in town! Freiburg and Karsrhule are 1 hour away by train and covered another regional day ticket. Take the bus up to the Black Forrest National park and have an amazing time!

I loved the old town centre and the atmosphere.

I loved the old town centre and the atmosphere. As it was Christmas time with the Christmas market and decorations, the atmosphere was very special. It felt more festive and less commercial than in other cities. The museums are very good. Although we didn't have time to visit all of them, the two we visited were amazing. One is the Frida Kahlo Kunstmuseum Gehrke-Remund Baden-Baden, with an extraordinary account of Frida Kahlo's life and work. The other one of the Museum Frieder Burda. Designed by the architect Richard Meier, the building showcases the beautiful and meaningful architecture so characteristic ofthis architect. In addition, the exhibition being held there at the moment, called Impressionismus in Deutschland, was really worthwhile. Beyond that, there are still many other attractions like the bath houses, the good restaurants and bars, etc etc.

The reception at Hotel Sonata was excellent and they were most welcome and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was very good with a selection of food to suit everyone. The hotel is situated close to the town center. The route by bus is straight forward and the bus stops right outside the Sonata Hotel. We can highly recommend this hotel .

Excellent breakfast, staff were very friendly and super helpful. Spa area: the pool is relatively small but not crowded, so it was really nice for a quick swim; the sauna area was big enough with 3 different types of steam bath or sauna, so plenty to choose from and relax afterwards. Location of the hotel was excellent, just next door to the Kurgarten, very central in Baden-Baden.
