Ashbourne is a very pretty, lively market town with plenty of one-off shops, eateries, coffee houses and ice-cream parlours! For a foodie it is heavenly with delicatessens offering just about anything you could wish for, with lovely one-off gift shops etc… Very quaint, and well worth visiting; with Dovedale and other beautiful locations right on the doorstep. Thoroughly recommended in all respects and quintessentially Olde English in all the best ways!

Ashbourne is a charming small town with tons of character.

Ashbourne is a charming small town with tons of character. It is extremely walkable and of course it is surrounded by lots of hikes and walks in the hillside. I’m not sure how the town has maintained. It’s historic feel while still offering a huge variety of great food and interesting local places to visit.

We had a long weekend in Ashbourne having visited the area previously. We had planned our visit and knew what we wanted to do. There is plenty to do in the area, and if you want to walk there are no end of hill walks available. The town is very pretty with lots of places to eat and drink. Its a great base for getting out into the surrounding area.

The town had been modernised and the roads were good though the one way system could be a little confusing. There are many old buildings to be seen, especially the church interior, though the church surrounding needed the grass to be cut!

An old market town.

An old market town. It has quaint streets, and a great range of independent shops as well as a few high street brands. You will not be disappointed with the many places to go for food and drink. We had Sunday breakfast at a place called Bear I can recommend their eggs benedict. Ideally situated if you are staying for a few days and wish to visit other places in Derbyshire

The cottage was in an excellent location, within walking distance of the centre of Ashbourne with a little one and it was great being able to park right outside. Lovely and helpful hosts who even left a little treat on arrival which was yummy! The cottage was sparkling clean, really well equipped and decorated lovely throughout. The bathroom is nice and modern with a big walk in shower and the beds were really comfy. We had a great stay here, would highly recommend to all and we hope to return again next time we visit the area.

Spacious comfortable plenty of cutlery and crockery. The pool and gaming room were clean with good equipment. The location with the pub over the road and a short walk to Carsington water with all its walks gave us plenty to do. Ashbourne and Matlock were both close by car and access to the Peak District and Alton towers were close at hand
