Booked the Pickwick Inn for the night as we had visited it many times for food and drinks over the years whilst holidaying in the area. We stayed the Friday night before moving to Bigbury on sea and had a wonderful night. The bar banter was great and the food was good.

Warm friendly layout . Welcome email with clear instructions. Beautiful room . Layout is functional yet elegant . A very comfortable bed like sleeping in between clouds and great sleep as it's quiet during the night . Lots of lovely extras like a coffee machine in the room for good quality coffee. Lovely meal at the pub next door . Would stay again.

It is a lovely area close to the South Devon coastline.

It is a lovely area close to the South Devon coastline. We were there to walk part of the South Coast Path. Staying in Aveton Gifford allowed us to access various points along the path through the many roads.

For a couple of nights the village was fine, we wanted to be in a quiet place. The village shop was temporarily closed so can't comment on how useful it would be, we were planning to eat out anyway of which there was plenty of choice within 15/20 minutes drive and we found a garage shop which had all the basics we wanted for breakfasts. Salcombe is lovely, a cut above your run-of-the-mill seaside resort and a gorgeous selection of beaches. Our favourite was Bantham though you do pay for the privilege - £12 for the day twice as much as others. Not so impressed with Kingsbridge though I suspect we may not have found the best part of it as there were traffic diversions

It's just in a great spot for visiting so many different...

It's just in a great spot for visiting so many different areas. Incredibly quiet and safe. Perfect for us! If you want to walk to eateries in the evening it might not be for you but I'd say it's rare for someone to come to this area and not expect to drive. I loved that it was tucked away.
