Unfortunately we found Borth very tired, rundown and unloved. The beach at Ynyslas is lovely but There aren’t many facilities in Borth and the shops look like they’ve seen better days. We did enjoy our trip though as we travelled to Aberdyfi, New Quay, and Barmouth.

We stayed out of season so we understand its quiet.I think if hosts advised that local shops and restaurants are very few and far between it would be helpful so we could bring our own provissions .We waited two hours to be delivered a cold pizza and the corner shop was only open until 6pm !! Apart from this we had great walks with our dog in a beautiful location.

Borth has a huge beach, with easy parking and great views.

Borth has a huge beach, with easy parking and great views. There's a nature reserve at the far end which again, is easy to park at (with disabled access) and fabulous views and walks over/round the sand dunes. The drive over to Aber can be fun (on the small road) or safe (on the larger road) depends on how you are feeling. I didn't eat in Borth, I liked cooking in the caravan.

The beach which is only five minutes walk is stunning and there’s also plenty of little walks around too. The site itself has a friendly bistro which is very reasonably priced. We visited outside of school holidays and it was so quiet and peaceful. A bonus for me was the local golf course, Borth & Ynyslas was only a 2 minute drive away so managed a round on a lovely well maintained course.

Location great for a base to travel around the area, visited Aberdovey, Barmouth, Aberystwyth, Dolgeu etc. The dog section of the huge beach is fantastic and a beautiful space to spend time and just chill and walk along the sand. Lots of jellyfish on the beach for some reason so be aware if you have dogs etc. Visited the Victoria pub one night, excellent location looking over the beach/sea with a beer. Some shade out the back, food good too but not too much choice. Not many other shops etc open as not really in peak season yet. Visit the old cinema if you can as heard it is good.

Borth is a quaint, old fashioned seaside village.

Borth is a quaint, old fashioned seaside village. There are two nice pubs there, The Victoria has a lovely beer garden that backs onto the beach. You can also use the golf club at the end of the village for food and drinks. There are a number of shops and a couple of take aways too. There is also a lovely little cinema with a restaurant above it called Lebanus- although we didn’t use it, it looked lovely with views over the beach. The beach stretches for miles and is mainly pebbles with some sandy areas inbetween. The train runs from Borth to Aberystwyth and only takes 15 minutes. Borth is a lovely little place to spend a few days at.

Jon and Angie have a lovely and comfortable holiday cabin which we have enjoyed with our two children multiple times. It's always private, well stocked with necessaries, and provides a beautiful view of Borth itself, the coast down beyond Aberdyfi, and the River Dyfi.
