Felt relaxing and homely. Jon and Mandy met us upon arriving and after briefing us where everything was we were left to our own devices. They both expressed that if we needed anything at all just to ask. They were very un-intrusive and the atmosphere was very friendly. The hot tub was a bonus and a very welcome way to chill after returning from our days excursions around Norfolk.

First, the practical points: the price is unbelievably cheap for the location, nestled in the Norfolk Broads. It’s clear that this place has a lot of history, and at one point, it must have been set up with real enthusiasm. The rooms have a distinctly early-2000s vibe, and there are personal touches everywhere including a barber’s chair, random bits of decor that feel like echoes of the past, and even motivational signs that carry a kind of hollow optimism, adding to this sort of identity crisis, and where multiple parallel universe converge into a single point. Despite the disorganisation, I can't deny that I enjoyed my stay. There's something oddly endearing about the place—the mix of forgotten decor, the bizarre introductions, the contradictions between an overly visible CCTV system and a DVR just sitting there, easily unplugged. It’s a place that feels like it's caught between past ambition and present neglect, yet it still functions in its own strange way. Then you have the dusty turned off fruit machine by the door and golden streamers dangling down, so you feel like an archaeologist finding clues about a time when there was energy and life in this place, fingerprints left in time. Would I stay here again? Probably, yes, because part of me enjoys the randomness of it all. If you’re someone who appreciates a bit of unintentional adventure with your accommodation infused with early 2000's decor, you might just feel the same. Oh and parking was good.

We booked The Plough Inn as it was close to my family members' home, and it exceeded expectations, the staff were lovely, the rooms were great with everything we needed, like tissues, a hair dryer and a fridge! Lovely rural view from my room. Breakfast was fresh and delicious

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating. The room itself was spotless—cozy, clean, and fresh, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. But the real highlight? The bed. It was hands down the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. I woke up each morning feeling completely rested and refreshed. A special shout-out to the manager, Steve, who truly sets the tone for the exceptional service here. He was attentive, kind, and clearly cares about every guest’s experience. His leadership shows in the quality and warmth of the entire team. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort, cleanliness, and top-notch hospitality, this hotel is it. I can’t wait to return!

Well what a difference we have stayed at the kings head several times and I must say it was a bit run down ( cheap and cheerful comes to mind) but now after a full refurbished it is now an excellent place to stay only downside is the rooms are on the small side which with an old building cannot be changed + great location and as always the staff are very helpful and welcoming

What Guests Said About Coltishall:

While not a picturesque village, the locality of the Broads is beautiful and there are some lovely riverside spots in the village. The butcher and the local shop are handy to have, as is the petrol station and the pharmacy. I was intrigued by the guys with their riverside hammock and canoes, wasn't sure whether they were for hire but they seemed to have a really relaxed vibe as we passed by! Of the four village pubs we tried three. Recruiting Sergeant is more of a restaurant but serves very good beers which we drank in the rear garden. The Rising Sun is perfect for a sunny day as it is on the riverbank, friendly, busy and offers good pizzas. Ali Spice was delicious Indian takeaway food, I'd drive to Coltishall for quite a bit to have it. I'd pass on the Chinese and chippy though, others locally may be fresher, tastier, better. Don't miss a trip out on the Bure Valley Railway from the station at the top of the village - a narrow gauge steam train that connects to Wroxham one way and Aylsham the other. For kids and adults alike!

Coltishall is a great base for exploring the broads, and Norfolk’s only canal. The Rising Sun and the Recruiting Sargeant offer amazing food, as does the Kings Head, where we enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Thanks Lauren for making our couple of days feel like a week, cannot wait to return!

Lots of through traffic.

Lots of through traffic. Plenty of amenities. two take aways, a supermarket, coffee rooms, petrol station, pubs a short walk. There is a good launching area for the river nearby but unless you go exploring it is a closely guarded secret! No signposts. The river is beautiful for paddle boarding. A pleasant village marred by the traffic.

Coltishall is a very attractive old village.

Coltishall is a very attractive old village. For a small village I thought the amount of amenities and food options were very good. It has a beautiful church with a lovely graveyard. The War Memorial is attractive and it is interesting but sad to read the names on it. The Londis was very well stocked with good opening hours. It is certainly a nice location to stay in when exploring the local area.

Great pub beautiful location.

Great pub beautiful location. Staff very friendly and food great. Only problems were that the car park was hectic and the room was too hot. This is not a reflection on the pub but the heatwave we were experiencing at the time of our stay. They made our dog very welcome.

The barn is very clean and homely, great village location but tucked away in a quiet corner, the village has a lovely river with good pubs. Close to the busier town of Wroxham if you want shops etc. I would definitely stay here again.
