The breakfast selections are excellent. We dined in for dinner a few times, excellent as well. Pete, Marianne, Lucas are as accommodating as possible. The best lodging in Douglas for sure.

We had a good look round and found all we needed within walking distance . The promenade was kept very clean and of a wide pavement area although as of most places these days cycles are forever present and even use pedestrian crossings to cross roads

Although it is the capital, and well worth a visit, it's a bit run-down and somewhat lacking in decent eating places. Castletown or Peel would probably be better places to stay when visiting the island.

Orange India and Fig &Olive are good restaurants.

Orange India and Fig &Olive are good restaurants. Transport Weekend was excellent. Go Cards are value for money. Horse Tram should be extended as it is a popular asset. Lots of people said it was too short a journey—and yes I have used horses commercially myself.

Douglas has changed so much.

Douglas has changed so much. Not too many shops for tourists and if you are further up the promenade, its a good distance to get to a shop. We used the local bus service to get around the island. Horse tram only goes so far. Beach used to be much nicer and sandier. More stones and pebbles now. All cordoned off with big stone blocks. A nice railing would have better We took the electric railway up to Laxey. Ramsey is lovely and more shops there. Nice coffee shops too. Peel a bit more quiet. We also went to Port Erin and the local hotel did a nice meal. The old railway was a lovely run back to Douglas from Port Erin. Isle of Man , a lovely place to visit and explore. We were very lucky with the weather.

Thank you so much to the staff at Halvard Hotel. My partner and I took our first trip together to the Isle of Man and had a superb stay at the Halvard Hotel. The facilities were exceptional along with personal and caring service. We'd like to say a particular thank you to the lady who was in charge of front of house when we dined in the hotel's restaurant we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. We will definitely stay here again.

The staff are exceptional, very friendly and always helpful. The room was large, toasty and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful, high quality as were the evening meals, and served with a smile. Free parking outside, up hillside road. Easy access to the prom and a short walk to Douglas centre. I would certainly stay again and recommend this hotel.
