This was the most charming inn. We loved the outdoor seating which was perfect for enjoying a pint in the summer breeze. The food for breakfast and dinner was delicious. I have never had such wonderful hollandaise sauce in all my life and that is my favorite. Loved the fish and chips and white bait too. And, the topper was walking to the beautiful beach. It was completely amazing.

Very easy to find and access, without staff being involved, but all very smooth. Good facilities. Armchair in the room was a little wobbly and room was very hot, but a fan was provided, although not very effective. Very clean and comfortable. Close to town and beach.

Dunwich is lovely.

Dunwich is lovely. It has a fascinating history and Dunwich beach is beautiful and unspoilt. The National Trust walks there are great. Dunwich heath is fabulous. The Ship Inn in Dunwich is a great place to stay and Dunwich makes a great base to visit Southwold, Minsmere etc.

The peace and quiet! There are no big roads passing by. It's been 7 years since I've been here but if the cafe on the beach hasn't changed hands it's very good for cafe-type food and a great location behind the beach, overlooking the heath. It was great to watch the summer visitors (swifts, swallows and house martins) swooping around. We sadly didn't have time to see inside the museum or stop at Minsmere.

Dunwich is a quiet place in the winter months.

Dunwich is a quiet place in the winter months. The walk along the pebble beach was exhilarating. There is a ruined abbey, a church and a pub serving meals close to the beach. There's a cafe at the carpark and there is also a museum and a tiny art gallery - all are only open on certain days and time of year.

Almost the best of this part of the Suffolk coast - not overwhelmed by visitors, with free parking and access to some wonderful walks: up to the cliff top monastery ruins, along the beach, down to Minsmere or just straight into the sea for a swim. What more could you want?

Dunwich is a super place in which to stay .

Dunwich is a super place in which to stay . It is within easy reach of places of interest to visit . Dingle Barns is to be highly recommended as a quality place to stay . My previous negative comments re cleaning of room etc I now regret , as perhaps this should not have been expected . The bed was so comfortable , the shower was excellent and we had a beautiful room . Amanda was a first class hostess .

A charming, historic village with much to offer.

A charming, historic village with much to offer. The Marsh and Beach (National Trust) are ideal for walkers, dog owners, bird watchers & those who enjoy a peaceful setting. Dunwich is also close to RSPB Minsmere. The village museum is informative, well presented & staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. The Ship Inn, a popular destination serving locally sourced seafood. Whilst the Beach Cafe appeared to be a big favourite with dog walkers. Adjacenyt a tiny fishing hut gallery features regional arts & crafts. Suffolk coastal delicacies, samphire, sea rosemary, sea broccoli etc. are sold on an ad hoc basis by locals. The easy to follow cliff track starting close to the beach takes a direct route to the impressive ruins of Greyfriars Abbey & the sight of the last grave remaining from the final Dunwich church to fall into the sea. The current village church, St. James, is an unpretentious nineteenth century construction with the ruins of the medieval Leper Hospital & the last buttress of the above mentioned cliff fall church in the churchyard.

A charming location within walking distance of historic Dunwich & access to the Marsh tracks. Plenty of parking at the Barns (also at the Dunwich Beach car park for non-walkers). Easy road routes to explore other Suffolk sites of interest. We received a warm welcome from the proprietress. A beatifully quiet, comfortable stay with historic landscape views. Magnificent breakfast choices and friendly staff. Without a doubt we would return with pleasure to the Barns at any time of year.

Perfect location in RSPB Dingle Marshes, 5 minute walk to Dunwich. Super comfortable room in beautiful barn conversion. Very warm welcome from Amanda and the young man who served breakfast. Nice vegan breakfast. The only thing I'd change would be more eco-friendly toiletry options instead of the tiny plastic bottles of shower gel.
