My husband and I came for an overnight stay with our golden retriever. The room was very comfortable and clean. The setting was absolutely beautiful, a lovely coffee shop across the road selling cakes and ice cream with an outdoor seating area. A fabulous walk alongside the stream which brings you out at a lovely shop and Cafe, with amazing scenery along the way. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at the Inn and a gorgeous breakfast. Sheep wondering around grazing on the lawn infront of the pub what more could you ask for? 😃

Beautiful, gracious inn with lovely interior spaces that makes you want to stay for a full week. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable with lovely ambience. Several sitting rooms and spaces afford stunning views and comfortable places to rest when not exploring the Lake District. Staff was friendly and attentively helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

The Staff are so Friendly. The room was a good size at the front. Loved the pool area and outside Jacuzzi which I only just learned was hot!!! Food Amazing. Love Manuel! He rec my haddock brekkie and was perfect. Comfy lounge bar.Booked again for December!!!

Elterwater is a very picturesque spot in the heart of the Lakes. Beautiful views all around. Very peaceful little hamlet. There is only mainly holiday accommodation there now, as well as places to eat/drink, so not many facilities apart from that. But we liked the peaceful countryside location away from the bigger towns of the Lakes. We ate at the Brittania Inn where we were staying, but there were plenty of other options nearby too. Leisure facilities at the Langdale.

Beautiful location and the hotel has potential needs a little TLC. Heating in our bathroom didnt work. The food was OK the wine list was poor and the bar wasnt well stocked. The staff were friendly and helpful not much around but great if your a seasond walker or going for a total rest like we did.

Perfect for a walking holiday and a great pub to come back to. The public car park fills up very quickly so get there early. The roads are narrow for driving and walking too. Nearest Newsagent/Grocers is 15mins walk from centre or 5 minutes drive. Pizza/cafe is temporarily closed.

Ample free parking just a short distance away; parking nearer for half a dozen cars but you have to be lucky to get a space! Very friendly and helpful staff. A lively but small bar (discounts on the beer for CAMRA members!) which is dog friendly and with a good bar food menu. Very good restaurant food - well priced, interesting selection, and very generous sized servings. Within very easy reach of Elterwater and a well made path, or you can be adventurous and explore further afield. This was our second visit; unfortunately my wife isn't as mobile as she used to be, so the stairs to the rooms and ladies toilets are a bit of a challenge.

Very pleasant but there was some building work going on nearby. The roads near there are narrow, so you must expect some hold ups. The pub itself is very busy and popular. It is easy to get to other beauty spots, but parking in some areas can be a little trying. The pub allows dogs in their bedrooms, and although this did put me off a little, I have to admit that they were all well behaved and there was no evidence that a dog had been in our bedroom. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room. It is essential to book the time you want to eat in the dining room.

IMO Langdale is the prettiest Valley in the Lake District,...

IMO Langdale is the prettiest Valley in the Lake District, Particularly in Spring time. Has 3 or4 good walks, easy by general Lake District standards , many harder walks depending on your fitness. also a good bus service to Ambleside. Also two pubs in the village and another at Chapel Stile, only a 10 min walk away

The cottage is in a stunning location, walkable distance to both Ambleside and Elterwater with lovely walks on the door step. The facilities were great and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We really enjoyed our stay here, the cottage is beautiful!

Ideally situated near Ambleside, but still in a quiet area. Skelwith bridge pub is literally at the bottom of the road. Great location for walks to elterwater. And skelwith force. Cathedral caves are literally 2.5 miles away. .
