Location fab, very friendly, comfortable rooms....just a touch warm through the night but wouldn't put me off. Considering above a pub had a good sleep ...wasn't noisy. Allowed to leave our cases which was a great help as train wasn't until afternoon, fab location near everything, great little pub too with a great offer of a card stamp , buy 3 pints get next one free 👍 would defo stay again....five stars 😁 also had everything you needed in the room....the little bowl of sweets on the dresser is a cute touch too ...had an upstairs sun terrace , partly covered with tv showing the rugby 👍 great place to stay ...really enjoyed it. Thankyou

Loved the decor and spaciousness of the room, as well as the house itself. Jade is a welcoming,, friendly presence, and the breakfast was great. Lots of yummy food choices. The location is great, on the hill above the main street, and a short walk to the shops, cathedral and castle.

Really comfortable room with a nice bathroom and huge, comfortable bed. We appreciated blackout curtains as the sun was rising super early. Staff were obliging and it's in a convenient location just a short walk to town.

Enjoyed the location, completely out the way situated on the A68, no noise in the room and although the bed creaked, had the best 3 nights sleep in such a long time. Bar / Cafe below the room with really nice owners which gave a very warm welcome and easy to talk to, had a couple of beers with them and was left in awe of how much they have achieved!

If you're in doubt of where to start your stay in Esh: visit...

If you're in doubt of where to start your stay in Esh: visit the pub restaurant. You won't be steered wrong, with both a standard pub menu and changing daily specials! The staff were wonderful, very accommodating of my mother's physical and medical needs. We went away without the dogs on this occasion; we might well bring them next time! Esh is very walkable, we sadly didn't take the walking trail behind the pub but if we return... All in all, a truly comfortable, calming village pub. 11/10!

Good network of former rail tracks for cycling & walking. Langley Park > Lanchester > Nitsley Farm Shop return promises good food & idyllic scenery. Durham indoor market, Cathedral & riverside walks.

We stayed here as a party of 5 to celebrate our sons...

We stayed here as a party of 5 to celebrate our sons Graduation. Its about a 20 min drive from Durham and the same to the Beamish Museum. The apartment was huge and beautifully clean with everything you need for your stay. We had Sunday Lunch in the Pub below and it was plentiful and fresh with lovely deserts! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A great place to stay in a beautiful area.
