Very nice place to stay, friendly & helpful staff, nice room, food was great and lots of it too which was perfect after a big walk in the hills. The open fire in the bar / dining area made it warm and cosy and our room was nice and warm too with heating that we could control. Parking was free in the market place nearby. I'd already read the good reviews before coming, so wasn't surprised it was good!

This cottage is amazing It is so well equipped I easily whipped up a Christmas dinner in the kitchen it has everything you could want. The log burner makes everywhere so cozy and the supplied wood is such a bonus. The location is just excellent plenty of walks from the door step. I really appreciated the little decorations for Christmas and the gifts that were left for us. I'm hoping too come back in warmer weather too enjoy the outside area.

Hawes is a large village with normal amenities but frustratingly all things (apart from pubs) close at standard times - difficult for holiday makers on the hoof! Area is pretty and manageable for walking - some good pubs and hotels in the area, nearest towns Leyburn and Sedbergh

Free/cheap car parking throughout.

Free/cheap car parking throughout. Plenty of good, clean pubs and cafes plus numerous antique shops, quirky food stores and a gallery. Clean public toilets too. Plenty to do for all ages, especially those who love the countryside.

Hawes is a good base for visiting the Yorkshire Dales.

Hawes is a good base for visiting the Yorkshire Dales. During our stay we did two walks in Swaledale, one in Wensleydale, one in Malhamdale and one in Dentdale. We also attended a sheep auction and a sheepdog demonstration in Hawes. I had only briefly visited Hawes once before, two thirds of the way through a 100 mile walk, so it was good to see more of it.

Hawes is a very pretty place with interesting independent...

Hawes is a very pretty place with interesting independent shops. The views from everywhere are stunning and there are great walks all round Hawes, to Gayle, Hardraw Scar, etc.. Visiting the Wensleydale Creamery is a must and I definitely recommend eating at The Pantry. Excellent food and service.

We love Hawes.

We love Hawes. It is full of independent shops and we love the surrounding countryside. The only downside is all the motorcyclists who congregate at the far end of the town---we don't understand why the town council don't do something to ensure that the bikers are kept out of the main bit of the town.

Hawes is a lovely little town that we had not visited before...

Hawes is a lovely little town that we had not visited before, with interesting shops and a pretty church. We loved the openness of the surrounding landscape and on leaving the hotel, we took a scenic drive up to the wild and windy moors. Beautiful.

Fabulous hotel, very well maintained with a colour co-ordinated bedroom. Shower powerful and easily adjusted temperature dial. Menu was excellent and not just our meals, but the others I saw were not just quality, but quantity too - which meant I couldn't fit in a pudding! A good choice of real ales - all well kept. All of the staff were not just professional but friendly too. The views from Room 1 over the hills was spectacular.

Me and my partner stopped this weekend. We were made to feel so welcome. The owners were really attentive, got to know us on a personal level and provided a personal touch, without being intrusive. They offered helpful suggestions on the local area based on their experience. The property was clean, tidy and comfortable. The food was amazing, local sourced or homemade produce. We will definitely return when we visit Hawes again.

It was really accessible as it’s all on one level without any steps which was perfect . It was in a great location and super close to the centre of Hawes. The property was immaculate. There was a lovely bit of outside space too which was unexpected. The owners also provided bathroom essentials such as shampoo and also provided a lovely welcome gift for a special occasion.
