Everything was perfect. The location in lovely Hillsborough was picturesque, the house and garden truly lovely, with views towards Cavehill in Belfast from our window: Valerie and Kenny were delightful, incredibly caring and made our stay very comfortable. Valerie greeted us with a lovely tea tray and apple tart. Our room and bathroom were both wonderful with a comfortable bed and lovely bedlinens/pillows. A tea tray was provided in the upper hall foyer which was fabulous. Breakfast was wonderful, yoghurt, fruit, cereals, soda and potato bread, toast and preserves, pancakes and …. A cooked breakfast to follow! We felt totally spoilt.

Very nice, clean and comfortable. It has a dedicated parking place. Everything looks new and spot on. Good size for the two of us. It’s in the center location so walking distance to the park, church, fort, and palace. A lot of nice rest, pub, take away and bakeries around the area. We stayed at the village retreat last year and this year we stayed 2x as we love this place.

Really such a great find. Very cosy and comfortable cottage, felt really homely but very clean too! Everything that we needed and more was there, as far as Linn leaving us some irish soda bread for the morning which was very kind! Really warm, cosy, and overall we had a great stay. The two doggies are great too!! Stuart was an amazing host and we had some great chats with him!! Really makes you feel at home. We were sad to have missed Linn while we stayed there however we heard so many great things about her from stuart and we hope to meet her when we stay again!! Overall 10/10.

We didn't see much of the town, as we were only there for one night for a local exhibition, but it looked interesting. Hillsborough Castle is not far from the house and also the Eikon Exhibition venue is only a few miles away.

We went to do Hillsborough Forest Parkrun.

We went to do Hillsborough Forest Parkrun. It was a lovely run in a stunning location on a dry autumn day. Rain would have made it very unpleasant. We could not find any shop with a Deli counter!

We spent most of our time in Belfast city centre so only had a couple of hours to look around hillsborough. We didn’t realise the royal connection and I would have liked to visit the castle and the grounds. We had a short walk in the forest and the lake to find the fort and a stroll through the village. There were lots of nice cafes but we didn’t have chance to visit any.

Cute town with shops, restaurants and a working Royal Castle...

Cute town with shops, restaurants and a working Royal Castle called Hillsborough Castle that is worth the price of admission to see. The castle gardens were beautiful. Had a good meal at The Hillside which is walking distance to the castle. Easy drive into Belfast (about 20- 30 minutes) and the Antrim Coast (about 1.5 hours).

The room was exceptional.

The room was exceptional. The location was great and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent. Lynn made a rhubarb that was delicious the best I've tasted in over fifty years. You would be hard pressed to get better value anywhere

A visit to the palace of Hillsborough is a must for those interested in history, the arts and / or gardens. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. There is a lovely shop on site. We ate in both the Hillside Inn and the Plough. In our view the food and atmosphere in the Plough won out. The church is also worth a visit and there are some fantastic bakeries in the town.

The location was perfect, being only a short walk to the centre of Hillsborough, We got a good night's sleep, as the place was nice and quiet. Breakfast was excellent and served exactly when we wanted it, as we had a fairly early deparature to pick up family from the airport.
