I liked the fact that it was a small village with beaufiful...

I liked the fact that it was a small village with beaufiful scenery and a great little beach. The kids just wanted to be on the beach all day. We had great weather and it proved to be a real holiday retreat. It was great to get away from funfares, slot machines and the more commercialised holiday setting. It is a lovely location in Devon and we will certainly be back.

I have visited Hope Cove along with my now deceased husband,...

I have visited Hope Cove along with my now deceased husband, the first time being in 1991. It is an unspoiled part of Devon whereas a lot of other resorts i.e. Exmouth, Sidmouth among others have grown to be quite unacceptable to me.

Staff could not be more helpful, food, especially the breakfasts and the discounted evening meal were very good. We had no problem getting around, but we are fit walkers and also have a car if that were necessary. I imagine if you aren't fit walking around would be more than tricky.

The hotel is perfectly situated for the beach.

The hotel is perfectly situated for the beach. Our room looked straight out to the sea. It was comfortable and had everything we needed in it. Even in the winter there were a choice of places to eat. The hotel has its own lovely restaurant and The Cove next door also does great food. We took a walk up the hill to The Cottage hotel for lunch which was equally good though more formal. We will definitely come back again.

Glorious sceneey....hotel was lovely...eity such gloriois views. Food lovely. Fuenidhimgs snd general upkeep snd cleanliness excellent. The only complsint from us was that the tiny shower room with a step, was in a dark corner. We felt it was probably dangerous, wouod probably not meet current plannimg regulations....at lrast a night light in that corner would have made a difference...as it eas we skept eith the curtsins half open so we felt safe to ho to the loo in the midfle of the night!

The Hope and Anchor is a very nice hotel handily placed in this beautiful and well located bolt-hole in South Devon. We had a lovely time walking to Salcombe and Bigbury with chilled evenings enjoying fine food and drink

The location on Hope Cove is perfect for a quiet scenic getaway. The hotel and staff were excellent. Really friendly and helpful and breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had! We didn’t bring our dog but we could have and there was lots of doggies enjoying the beach first thing in the morning and at night and very close to the coastal path. Beautiful sunsets and delicious food in the restaurant.

Cottage Hotel sits just above the cove. Sitting either on the balcony or by the window watching the day unfold is so good for the soul . The waves , the dogs, the gulls , the swimmers all a delight.
