Breakfast was great. Location was coinvent to shopping and local restaurants. Parking was a little hard. Public car park nearby, but had to get free ticket every hour till 5PM, then free all night. Out the next morning. Small town and able to get our clothes washed in a nearby laundromat.

During my recent visit to Orkney, I had the pleasure of staying at the Kirkwall Hotel. This historic property exceeded expectations on all fronts. Exceptional Staff: The staff at the Kirkwall Hotel were incredibly professional and supportive. Their attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile made my stay truly memorable. From assisting with taxi arrangements to facilitating an extended stay due to a missed flight, their genuine hospitality was exceptional. Unmatched Location: The hotel's location is unbeatable. Situated in the heart of Kirkwall, it provides convenient access to a variety of amenities. Lidl, Tesco, restaurants, souvenir shops, and the magnificent Magnus Cathedral are all within easy walking distance. Historic Charm: The Kirkwall Hotel itself is a treasure trove of history. The corridors are adorned with captivating historic pictures, offering a glimpse into the past. A particularly delightful surprise was the beautifully preserved guest register dating back to 1948, adding a unique touch to the ambiance. Peaceful and Inviting: My room was impeccably clean and offered a serene atmosphere, free from any disruptive noise. The view of the harbor was an added bonus, providing a picturesque backdrop to my stay. Our visit to the Orkneys on our adventure through Scotland wasn't planned, but with a last minute booking we were lucky enough to be able to spend a couple nights at the wonderful Orkney Hotel! This historic inn far exceeded our expectations. We particularly loved spending the evenings in the bar tasting some of the literal thousands of bottles of whiskey decorating the walls. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the Scottish breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend a stay at the Orkney Hotel on your next visit!

The bed was sooo comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and the owner, Tereasa, was welcoming and accommodating. The view from the dining room window was amazing and it was just a short stones throw from the town. Breakfast was excellent and I spent the most relaxing night there. I hope to be back!

A beautiful, comfortable house. I appreciated my bed, arriving on a late ferry. Thoughtful additions like a shower mat, and also a delicious breakfast. Fiona was very attentive and friendly. I'd love to return.

Good town, lots of quirky shops, plenty of sights to see including fabulous cathedral but really nice just to wander around. Coffee shops and restaurants are good, there’s a great chippy - The Happy Haddock - and my other recommendations would be - Shearers Hardware store (has food too), Lucano Italian restaurant, The Brig for food and gifts. Stromness is well worth a visit too - smaller and very ‘different’

There is a lot to see and do in Kirkwall with the cathedral...

There is a lot to see and do in Kirkwall with the cathedral and the museum all within easy reach as well as food and entertainment. There are also walks and beaches and it is easy to get about to see other bits of Orkney and other islands.

I attended the Junior InterCounty sports and was impressed by the facilities. There was a choice of eateries and those I used were clean and offered a good selection. I ate in a cafe across from the Cathedral, in an Italian restaurant, in the Kirkwall hotel and in a garden centre, Outwith Kirkwall I ate in The Barrier View cafe and the Birsay cafe I camse across a shop on the main street selling Orkney products eg cheese, honey etc `There were others selling orkney knitwear, jewelery etc We had difficulty finding a taxi after 9.30 pm

My wife and I very much enjoyed walking around Kirkwall.

My wife and I very much enjoyed walking around Kirkwall. We have every intention of coming back again in the not too distant future. The public transport system is absolutely amazing in my opinion around this main land of Oakley.

Well, my opinion is that if you choise to stay at any of the Hostles then you should know what to expect they are for anyone that like to have the freedom to come ang as they please, I have stayed in 9 around Scotland and the all very from place to place, I choise to stay in Dorms so you are living with strangers and a bit of respect is important. The staff are always as helpful as they can be, and the kitchens are always well-equipped for cooking your own meals. And most of all, you get to meet new people to have a chat with and exchange your holiday experience!

Nice room, good size and really clean. Housekeeping staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Location of the hotel is fantastic, just a few minutes walk from downtown and the ferries to the other islands. We had a lovely view over the bay and could see all the cruise ships coming in. We had dinner at the restaurant one evening and the food is wonderful.

Clear check-in instructions, great location, apartment had all the amenities required for a lovely stay, homey style accommodation, but so so nice to come back to after a long day of sightseeing and the view from the lounge and main bedroom was gorgeous; will be recommending to all I know as the place to stay in Kirkwall.
