What Guests Said About Pen-y-cae:

Sadly we were left disappointed.

Sadly we were left disappointed. The previous reviews we read were good, however we did not have the same experience. The food was cold and the quality did not match the price. We spent around £50 on 2 mains, we expected tasty good quality meals. But we were disappointed as the meal was very average. The room was dusty and had lots of cobwebs. The bathroom shower was broken, which meant as I tried to adjust its height, it fell off the wall and hit me on the head. The bath plug was full of hairs. A build up of months by the looks of it. This was disgusting. We had the deluxe room with a mountain view. However you're looking out on the car park and campsite, with the fields in the far distance. To call it a mountain view was a bit of a stretch. Location was good, staff were friendly. But sadly wouldn't stay again.

We wanted a good hotel/pub not to far from the 4 Falls but this is not the place to stay look for somewhere closer. The 4 falls are great and worth seeing but make sure you have hiking shoes and take loads of water as it takes about 4 hours.

A very popular pub/restaurant with an additional outside street food van/seating which is also very busy. Booking is essential for the restaurant if you want to eat in. The owners are very engaging et informative. They are also committed to providing food et real ales from the locality. All credit to them. There is a camping/camper/caravan site behind the pub (not owned or run by the pub but convenient for a stopover).

Please correct the description on booking.com to make it...

Please correct the description on booking.com to make it clear that breakfast is not provided and property is in an isolated position along a narrow access road. Great location for walking- even in the mixed weather we had. Lots of options for evening meals nearby and fridge and microwave gave option to eat in. There is an electric car charger - but not accessible …..

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The bedroom, very tastefully decorated, and the bathroom were both very comfortable. The dinner was absolutely fantastic — the meat was perfectly cooked and delicious. Overall, this hotel offers good value for money.
